Job Description
We are looking for a friendly, professional, and dependable Front Desk Receptionist to join our Endocrinology team. The Front Desk Receptionist is often the first point of contact for our patients and plays an important role in providing a positive patient experience while keeping the office running efficiently.
This position will be responsible for greeting patients, answering phones, scheduling appointments, checking patients in and out, verifying demographic and insurance information, collecting payments, and assisting with referrals and other administrative needs.
The ideal candidate is organized, compassionate, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a busy medical office environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner.
- Answer incoming phone calls and assist patients with questions or route calls appropriately.
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
- Check patients in and out for appointments.
- Verify and update patient demographic, insurance, and contact information.
- Collect copays, balances, and other patient payments as required.
- Assist with referrals, authorizations, and obtaining necessary patient information.
- Communicate with patients regarding appointments, paperwork, and office procedures.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Obtain and scan necessary medical records, referrals, insurance information, and other documentation.
- Assist with coordinating medical records from outside providers when needed.
- Work closely with providers, medical assistants, and other office staff to ensure smooth patient flow.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA and company policies.
- Keep the front desk, waiting area, and work areas organized and professional.
- Assist with other administrative duties as needed.
- Previous medical office or healthcare front desk experience preferred.
- Experience with scheduling and electronic medical record systems preferred.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Professional and friendly demeanor.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working with patients and handling sensitive information.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- Bilingual skills are a plus but not required.
