Position Summary
EVgo is searching for a bright and inquisitive Data Scientist to identify and solve problems on our charger network using analytic methods and systems. You will use data, analysis, and algorithms to address some of the toughest challenges facing the growth of vehicle electrification. You will work closely with the Data Science R&D team to report issues and improve our analytic systems. Our team supports operations, hardware, and software groups at EVgo helping to identify, diagnose, and solve problems. We conduct advance analysis using experimentation, data exploration, statistical methods, and visualization. And we build and manage automated solutions to support the continued operation and monitoring of EVgo’s charger network. To be successful as a Data Scientist at EVgo, you must care deeply about the health of EVgo’s charger network, monitor relentlessly for problems, and drive those problems to solution with technical experts across the company. You will work with several other powerful Data Scientists in our fast and friendly team culture, and also as an interdisciplinary bridge with the Hardware group.
Responsibilities
- Data Wrangling – assemble data from various sources and formats into a single set suitable for analysis • Visualization – create and curate charts and graphics that reveal useful insights
- Monitoring & Troubleshooting – identify, manage, and solve technical/engineering problems that you identify using data systems and analytics
- Industry Knowledge – learn the technical details of the EV charging business and its sources of data
- Reporting Progress – communicate to others on your progress, obstacles, and learnings
- Project Selection – propose and promote projects that will answer important questions, support strategic decisions, or optimize control of automated systems
- Data Exploration – analyze existing data sets to help answer questions and develop hypotheses
- Communication – document methods and results concisely to present to colleagues
- Maintaining Expertise – identify and understand new data sources and analytic innovations that would benefit EVgo and its customers
Qualifications
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.
Desired Skills
- Proficient in scripting with SQL and Python
- Applies analytic techniques for data exploration, data visualization, linear regression, categorical models and machine learning.
- Works independently with little oversight, but also knows when to ask for guidance
- Enjoys resolving technical problems with team members

- Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition to a competitive base salary, we offer discretionary target cash bonuses, restricted stock units (subject to Board Approval), and a comprehensive benefits package including health, life, and disability insurance, unbounded paid time off including parental leave, and a 401(k).

The pay range for this role is:
100,700 - 125,900 USD per year(US)
