Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Stress Analyst III or Senior Stress Analyst to support the engineering team by performing structural, functional, and dynamic analyses for aerospace ground systems. This role will focus on validating the performance, integrity, and safety of umbilical systems, launch pad structures, ground support equipment, transportation and handling tooling, and other critical aerospace hardware.

Job Type: Contract-to-Hire (REMOTE)
Pay Rate: $90 - $102 per hour (DOE)
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday-Friday (Overtime as needed)
Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis on aerospace ground support equipment, launch infrastructure, and mechanical hardware.
- Develop hand calculations and finite element analysis (FEA) models to validate structural integrity and system performance.
- Analyze static, dynamic, thermal, and load path conditions for aerospace systems.
- Evaluate umbilical systems for disconnect timing, clearance, and launch/abort loading conditions.
- Perform structural and functional analysis on ground testing equipment, fixtures, stands, and instrumentation hardware.
- Validate launch pad structures, integrated mechanical systems, and infrastructure against operational and environmental loading.
- Analyze transportation and handling equipment including lifting fixtures, transport frames, rigging points, handling rings, and associated tooling.
- Verify rated loads, factors of safety, and compliance with lifting and handling standards.
- Prepare formal engineering analysis reports supporting configuration release activities and design reviews.
- Collaborate closely with design engineers, drafting teams, and cross-functional engineering groups to support product development.
- Ensure all analyses comply with Blue Origin engineering practices and applicable NASA MSFC standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
- Demonstrated experience performing structural analysis on aerospace hardware, ground support equipment, or complex mechanical systems.
- Strong understanding of:
- Static analysis
- Dynamic analysis
- Thermal analysis
- Load path analysis
- Experience performing both:
- Hand calculations
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Proficiency with one or more FEA software packages including:
- ANSYS
- Nastran
- Abaqus
- Femap
- Or equivalent
- Experience evaluating factors of safety, rated loads, and structural integrity.
- Strong technical writing skills with experience preparing engineering reports and analysis documentation.
