Job Summary:
Provides supervision, training, and support to dental staff to increase efficiency and ability to provide patient care. Works in tandem with the Dental Administrator.
Summary/objective:
The role of Clinical Care Coordinator Assistant is to provide oversight, leadership, and mentorship to fellow dental assistants. To assist in the efficiency and functionality of the department and to help the department reach their goals set forth by the Dental Director.
Specific Duties:
Leadership:
- Monitor and manage a productive schedule.
- Oversee daily operations of the dental office.
- Employee and patient relations.
- Achieve practice goals (Monthly / Quarterly / Annual).
- Manage staff productivity
- Manage the team's schedules and time clock entry.
- Complete End of Day processes and make review day end checklists for team members.
- Timely reporting on tasks and goals to the director.
- Directs and leads dental assistants in continuous process improvements.
- Leads clinical staff in maintaining a smooth patient workflow with the front office staff and clinical teams to promote timely and exceptional patient experience visits.
- Collaborates with other office staff to improve and provide better patient care.
- In conjunction with the Clinic Care Coordinator is to ensure adequate coverage of dental assistants to ensure efficient workflow.
- Mentors and trains other clinical staff.
- Assists in the efficient transition and adaptation of new dental assistant staff.
- issue resolution and workflow recommendations for continuous process improvements to the lead assistant.
- Overall coordination of clinical area. Knowledgeable about all aspects of
- clinical dentistry, performance limited only by certification or licensing.
- Meet regularly with the dentist and the Dental Administrator and Director.
- Suggest clinical staffing needs.
- Coordinate clinical staff orientation and training.
- Make recommendations about clinical staff performance appraisals,
- discipline, or dismissal.
- Coordinate office-wide OSHA and HIPAA training, maintenance of records,
- etc.
- Direct and maintain work schedules. Collect work, vacation, and personal
- leave time records for clinical staff. Obtain substitute staff, as necessary.
- Assign collateral duties to clinical staff, e.g., ordering, maintenance of
- Coach clinical staff members and mediate differences when possible.
- Direct the morning huddle (brief meeting to review the day).
- Help schedulers with scheduling questions.
- Direct the flow of patients through the clinical area.
- Make certain all work systems are consistent, e.g., computer data entry,
- communication with patients about clinical matters, paperwork, lab delivery.
- etc.
- Help plan and maintain clinical area budget. Supervise clinical supply
- inventory and ordering.
- Coordinate the process for patients who will be treated in the hospital.
- Maintain confidentiality in all practice matters and staff interpersonal
- relationships.
- Assist with dental procedures and documentation.
- Perform dental x-rays.
- Knowledge and practice of infection control techniques.
- Ability to work with minimal direction.
- Performs any other duties assigned by Dental Director.
- Participate in and serve as a model for SVdP’s Culture of Philanthropy and ensure SVdP volunteers feel welcomed and appreciated.

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Training as a Dental Assistant
- Able to collaborate with volunteers and students to support the mission of St. Vincent de Paul.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) is required.
- Experience using the operating system Dentrix is preferred.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-3 or 3-4 years of experience as a Dental Assistant
Physical Requirements:
- Able to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach and lift up to 30 pounds are required for this position
