Technology Lab Specialist

As a Technology Lab Specialist, youll play a key role in helping members build digital literacy, creativity, and career readiness through engaging, hands-on tech experiences.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Technology Lab Specialist plays a key role in delivering innovative, hands-on technology experiences for youth ages 818 at the Boys & Girls Club of Fitchburg and Leominster. This position is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Clubs computer lab and leading engaging programs that promote digital literacy, creativity, academic support, and career readiness. The ideal candidate is passionate about youth development and technology, and is skilled at creating a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment where young people can explore coding, digital media, STEM, and responsible internet use.
KEY RESPONSABILITES:
Program Development & Instruction
Design and lead interactive technology programs in areas such as coding, digital media, STEM, and internet safety.
Support academic achievement by assisting members with homework, research, and educational software.
Introduce youth to tools like Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Canva, Scratch, and other creative platforms.
Promote responsible digital citizenship and safe online behavior.
Lab Management & Technical Support
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe computer lab environment.
Ensure all equipment is functional; troubleshoot basic issues and coordinate repairs as needed.
Monitor member activity to ensure appropriate use and adherence to club policies.
Youth Engagement & Mentorship
Build positive relationships with members and encourage participation in tech-focused programs like MyFuture, Hour of Code, and digital showcases.
Serve as a mentor and role model, fostering curiosity, confidence, and creativity.
Additional Duties
Participate in events and club-wide initiatives.
May be required to drive the club van.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience
Associate or bachelors degree in education, computer science, IT, digital media, or related field (preferred).
12 years of experience working with youth in educational or recreational settings.
Familiarity with STEM concepts and basic IT troubleshooting.
Skills & Attributes
Strong communication skills and ability to connect with youth ages 818.
Passion for youth development and technology education.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Ability to complete subject specific Spillett Trainings
Valid drivers license required.
