Position Summary
- The role of the Health Educator is:1. to assist with screenings including obtaining biometric data and blood draws2. to present education to clients introducing them to health related issues, benefits and myths of exercise.3. to case manage assigned clients and assist them with achieving personal fitness and wellness goals4. to develop exercise prescriptions that will improve the patient's cardiovascular system, muscular strength, endurance, and flexibility fitness without exceeding safe exercise limits5. to lead group exercise classes following ACSM guidelines.

- Masters of Science - Required

Experience
- 1 Year - Required
- A minimum of one year's experience in a health related field including internships.

License & Certification
- National Certification - Required (ACSM, CSCS or WellCoach)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required

Core Job Functions
- Collects and reviews information on lifestyle. Educates based on health risks and needs, sets realistic goals and reviews as needed. Researches materials to stay current on treatments of chronic disease.
- Educates patients and their families on interventions aimed at restoring functional capacity and effecting favorable modifications of coronary heart disease risk factors and respiratory disease.
- Designs, develops, updates and evaluates educational curriculums. Accreditation standards and principles are incorporated in educational planning. Participates on committees and serves as a content expert when applicable.
- Patient's blood pressure, heart rate, and physical status are monitored for abnormal responses and documented. Exercise plan is tailored to the individual needs of the patient and family; assessment, response to exercise, and resolution of goals are documented; progress notes completed and sent to physicians.
- Verifies patient identification prior to specimen collection and properly labels specimen at bedside and chair side using standard method documented in procedure manual(s). Performs venipuncture an capillary collections on adults and children. Specimen collections, with actual collection times are verified within designated time frame.
