Retail at Macado's Inc. – Harrisonburg, Virginia

Pay Range: $12.00 - $16.00 / hour

This position is responsible for greeting the customers as they arrive in the restaurant. Rotate seating between different stations to ensure even workloads for wait staff, answer the phone and take any carry-out/to-go orders for customers. They are to aid the servers in making desserts, bussing dishes and occasionally helping catch up the dish room on shifts were a dishwasher is not scheduled and as their work load allows. They are also responsible for baking the cinnamon rolls and cookies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Creating a positive impression for customers entering the restaurant.
• Maintaining a clean front of the house. This may include cleaning windows, mopping the front entrance to the store, ensuring that non-skid mats and wet floor cones are in place when weather requires it and keeping the front area clean and clutter free.
• Informing wait staff of parties being sat in their station and proving families with children coloring sheets, crayons, balloons and high chairs when needed.
• Making wait staff aware of any special needs customers may require.
• Aiding the wait staff in making desserts and milkshakes if the work load permits.
• AM duties include stocking the dessert and to-go area, checking with management about any catering or to-go orders that may require cookies/dessert trays. Working with the deli staff to ensure that all to-go orders are complete and ready to go at the time it was promised.
• Ensuring that there is smooth flow between customers being seated, customers picking up to-go orders and in-house customers wishing to pay at the register.
• Ensuring that all cash run up in retail is accounted for.

Hostess job skills include the following:

• A passion for working with guests as well as other staff.
• High level of personal hygiene
• Able to work under pressure
• Able to answer multi-line phone
• Basic computer skills.
