The Role

The Edlavitch DCJCC Preschool is seeking several part-time early childhood substitute teachers for our year-round program. The EDCJCC Preschool follows a play-based, constructivist-inspired curriculum, celebrating Jewish holidays, and emphasizing Jewish values. The focus is on exploration, investigation, and observation, working with children who range in age from 18 months to 5 years old. Classrooms range in size up to 16 students per class with 2-3 dedicated teachers.

Substitute Teachers support the teachers throughout the day, during lunch and nap times, with transitions to the playground or other activities inside and outside the classroom. Some staff will be scheduled for After Care from 4:00-6:00 PM.

Qualifications

• Classroom experience working with a mixed age group, 2-5 years of age
• Ability to build appropriate relationships with the children, parents, and other staff
• Enthusiasm and interest in working with young children
• Understanding of group management techniques
• Commitment to working scheduled shifts
• Ability to walk, run, bend, sit, kneel, and lift up to 30 pounds
