UBMD Internal Medicine (UBMDIM) is the academic medical practice affiliated with the University at Buffalo's Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. As the largest practice plan in UBMD Physicians' Group, UBMDIM consists of 135 primary and specialty care physicians and 187 staff members serving patients at 16 hospital and outpatient clinic locations across the Buffalo-Niagara Falls area. UBMDIM physicians are dedicated clinical practitioners, educators, and researchers, committed to providing exceptional patient care, training future healthcare providers, and advancing medical research.

Role Description

As the Front Desk Coordinator, you will be responsible for a variety of key administrative and customer service tasks in a medical office setting. These include greeting patients, managing appointment scheduling, answering phone calls, verifying patient information, and other general receptionist duties. This is a full-time, on-site role located in the Buffalo-Niagara Falls area, requiring excellent organizational and communication skills to ensure smooth daily operations in our healthcare practice.

Qualifications

1. Strong interpersonal skills and professional phone etiquette for maintaining excellent patient and colleague interactions
2. Proficiency in appointment scheduling and managing patient inquiries
3. Experience with front desk receptionist duties, including managing patient check-in/out and addressing queries
4. Organizational skills and knowledge of administrative assistance in a healthcare setting
5. Proficiency with medical office software and technology is preferred
6. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment
7. High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certifications in healthcare administration are a plus

Duties include and are not limited to:

Greeting patients
Check in/out
Verify insurances
Scheduling appointments
Daily copay reports/collect copays
General customer service
Reschedule provider schedules
Assist in call center
Ideal candidate must have excellent communication and multi-tasking skills. 2-3 years experience in medical office, EMR and healthenet experience preferred, general office skills (faxing, copying, etc.) required.
