SNF Server / Dietary Aide Position Summary
The SNF Server / Dietary Aide plays a vital role in supporting the nutritional care of residents in the Skilled Nursing Facility by providing accurate, safe, and timely meal service in accordance with physician-ordered diets and Community protocols. This position is responsible for serving meals in dining areas or resident rooms, ensuring correct diets, textures, supplements, and adaptive equipment are provided, and assisting residents during mealtime while maintaining dignity, safety, and infection control standards.
In addition to meal service, the SNF Server / Dietary Aide supports dietary operations by assisting with tray setup and breakdown, maintaining cleanliness of service areas and equipment, and communicating closely with Nursing and Dietary teams regarding resident needs, meal intake, refusals, or concerns. This role requires strong attention to detail, compassion when working with higher-acuity residents, and strict adherence to food safety and infection control practices.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Prior experience in food service, healthcare, senior living, or institutional dining preferred.
- Experience working in a Skilled Nursing Facility or healthcare environment is strongly preferred.
- Ability to obtain Food Handler certification within the required timeframe (if applicable).
- Familiarity with therapeutic diets, texture modifications, and infection control practices is a plus.
- Ability to follow physician-ordered diets, diet cards, and service instructions accurately.
- Ability to communicate effectively with Nursing and Dietary teams regarding resident needs or concerns.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, clinical dining environment while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail.
- Reliable attendance and flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts as required.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and push or pull meal carts and trays as needed.
- Commitment to maintaining resident dignity, safety, and confidentiality at all times.
