About This Position
Working under the direction of the COO, the Safety Manager is responsible for developing and implementing health and safety plans, enforcing policies, and evaluating practices and facilities to ensure compliance with legal guidelines. They conduct training sessions, monitor compliance, investigate accidents, and provide recommendations for improvement. As a safety manager you must have excellent attention to detail to identify hazards. You will also be able to discover opportunities for improving conditions and execute various safety programs. The ability to communicate guidelines to a multidisciplinary workforce is essential.Be a part of a great company with comprehensive benefits package and a great work culture!ResponsibilitiesCollaborates with management to develop an Emergency Action Plan and serve as primary contact for project site injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management. Maintains a written log of safety inspection activities, reports, and correspondence.Safety programs: Develop, execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines and oversees the safety program, including safety and health programs, accident prevention, and investigation Safety inspections: Conducting safety inspections, audits, and meetings to ensure compliance and identify corrective actions Safety training: Providing safety training for employees, including training on accident prevention and investigation Safety policies: Creating and implementing safety policies and procedures to reduce the risk of accidents and injuries Safety reporting: Preparing and filing reports for accidents and other safety breaches Safety compliance: Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and ensuring compliance with OSHA, state, USG and federal rules and regulations Safety culture: Prepare, enforce and improve the safety culture throughout the company Safety emergencies: Developing and managing an Emergency Action Plan, and serving as the primary contact for reporting, investigating, and managing incidents and injuries Safety equipment: Ensuring the safe installation of equipment Safety awareness: Conducting in-house training sessions on health and safety awareness Safety metrics: Tracking incident metrics and applying findingsParticipates in team meetings and provides regular on-site project presence.Other duties as assignedRequirementsKnowledge of OSHA regulationsProven experience as safety managerDeep understanding of legal health and safety guidelinesAbility in producing reports and developing relevant policiesGood knowledge of data analysis and risk assessmentExcellent organizational and motivational skillsOutstanding attention to detail and observation abilityExceptional communication and interpersonal abilitiesPhysical DemandsMust be able to lift/push/pull up to 40 lbs. without restrictionMust be able to bend, stoop, climb ladders, and work in confined spacesTolerant of varying weather and environmental conditionsAdequate vision and hearing to identify hazardsAbility to move safely on decks, docks, and uneven surfacesComfortable working around grease, water, dirt, and mechanical equipmentBenefitsYear end bonus opportunityPaid sick, vacation and holiday packageCompany paid health benefits, medical, dental, vision and life insurance.Voluntary benefits, matching 401K, Aflac packages, FSA, Employee assistance programsCareer AdvancementSalary $80,000 - $100,000 annual salary - DOE“Pacific Maritime Group is an equal opportunity workplace.
