Pay Range: $120,000.00 - $190,000.00 per year

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

  • Provide clinical expertise to all hospital departments on use of VADs, care of the patient and patient management
  • Provide day to day patient management to ensure quality care and mentor inpatient nurses on the care of this patient population
  • Work with nursing education to provide annual refresher education and competence
  • Manage patients in the outpatient setting
  • Work with health care providers in patients local community to recognize the device and how to provide basic support
  • Collaborate with research staff to ensure all protocols are followed
  • Work with Administrative Director to ensure patient care and program policies meet or exceed regulatory expectations at all times

Qualifications:

  • Certified nurse practitioner or physician assistant in NJ
  • Two years experience caring for mechanical circulatory support patients is preferred
  • ACLS and BLS certifications required

Responsibilities:

  • Collection of health history and perform physical exam
  • Disease process management for all inpatient and outpatient's with a VAD or during evaluation process
  • Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests confer with attending MDs follow up as necessary
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team/consultants, document decisions or follow up
  • Ensure all clinical staff are properly educated by working with nursing education to provide annual competency training or initial orientation as requested
  • Provide visible presence on nursing units to manage patient care and act as resource to nursing staff
  • Chart documentation per hospital guidelines and policy
  • Ensure compliance with clinical, research and administrative policy and procedures
  • Collaborates with research staff to ensure all necessary information is communicated for reporting to proper body
  • Track quality data indicators and provide on time monthly reporting for department QA and for Intermacs
  • Provide visible presence on nursing units to manage patient care and act as resource to nursing staff
  • Patient, family and community education and document in patient medical records
  • Assists perfusionists with set up of new implants in the OR
  • Maintain presence for all surgical cases to provide assistance or trouble shooting as necessary
  • Examine, assess, educate, review patient chart information, make patient care plans for VAD pts on both inpatient and outpatient service
  • Deliver necessary equipment to any location within the hospital as needed for patient safety
