Tax Analist at Distro – Lima, Illinois

Job Description:

• Process daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual tax deposits and returns.

• Support all departments with payroll and payroll tax knowledge.

• Maintain state and federal compliance related to payroll, payroll tax, and the PEO co-employment relationship.

• Ensure all requirements are met accurately and timely.

Responsibilities:

• Execute timely and accurate payroll tax payments and filings with federal, state, and local agencies (including federal tax withholding, state withholding, unemployment tax, 941s, 940s, W-2s, W-3, annual state filings, worksite reports).

• Ensure timely import and review of all payroll tax liabilities and address discrepancies promptly.

• Establish, maintain, and close tax accounts as needed for both internal and client accounts.

• Communicate, respond to, and resolve tax agency issues or notices promptly.

• Support accounting department with review, analysis, correction of payroll tax liability, and audit documentation and responses.

• Assist clients and employees with payroll tax reports or inquiries.

• Support Implementation Department in onboarding new client accounts, including loading successor wages, first payroll reviews, and reviewing worksite locations and employee profiles in relation to payroll tax.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years accounting experience required; payroll or payroll tax processing experience and/or training preferred.

• Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.

• FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) preferred.

• Familiarity and understanding of U.S. employment taxes.

• Strong problem-solving skills with a solutions-oriented approach.

• Adaptable to change with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to promote goodwill across departments.
