BASIC FUNCTION:
The Assembly Line Lead will be responsible for guiding the assembly team, ensuring the production process runs smoothly, and meeting production targets while maintaining product quality. Performs, leads, and coordinates the line activities and operations of other assemblers according to instruction and assigned schedules. Serves as a mentor/line coach while executing the established training program for new employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Supervise Assembly Line Operations:
- Lead and direct the assembly line team to ensure the timely and efficient completion of production tasks.
- Displays assembly knowledge of mechanical, electrical and brazing assembly techniques, while performing duties identified throughout the multiple stations within the department.
- Monitor and manage the workflow to meet production schedules and targets
2. Quality Control:
- Ensure that all products assembled on the line meet the company's quality standards and specifications.
- Conduct regular inspections and implement corrective actions to address any quality issues.
- Performs various tasks to complete assigned audits (CAP, QCPC, etc.), and addresses quality concerns identified within the evaluation process.
3. Training and Development:
- Provide training to new assembly line workers and ongoing coaching to enhance the team's skills and performance.
- Collaborates with Manager, Supervisor, and other leads to execute cross training initiatives.
- Monitor, document, and provide feedback to Supervisor regarding the identified employee’s progress.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement among the assembly team.
4. Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains in the assembly line.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to implement improvements and streamline operations.
5. Safety Compliance:
- Enforce adherence to safety guidelines and regulations on the assembly line.
- Conduct safety training and maintain a safe working environment for all team members.
6. Equipment Maintenance:
- Ensure that all assembly line machinery and equipment are properly maintained and in good working condition.
- Report any equipment malfunctions and arrange for timely repairs.
7. Reporting and Documentation:
- Keep accurate records of production output, downtime, and any issues affecting the assembly line's performance.
- Generate reports on production metrics and share them with management regularly.
8. Problem Solving:
- Address any challenges or bottlenecks that arise during the assembly process promptly and effectively.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to find solutions to complex production issues.
9. Continuous Monitoring:
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of assembly materials to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Coordinate with the logistics team to schedule material deliveries as needed.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and machinery.
- Maintains cleanliness of work area and follows safe work practice rules.
- Performs other miscellaneous duties as required.
CONTACTS:
Internal: Regular (31-45%)
Contacts involve preliminary settlement of transactions of a limited controversial nature.
External: Infrequent (1-5%)
Little or no contacts.
Requirements:POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
Experience:
- Proven experience in assembly line work with a track record of reliability and quality output.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or lead role in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong technical and mechanical aptitude, with the ability to understand assembly line processes and equipment.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills to effectively lead and motivate the assembly team.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing setting.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet production targets.
- Analytical and problem-solving capabilities to address production issues and implement process improvements.
- Flexibility to work in shifts and adapt to changing production schedule.
- Minimum of five (5) years of Line/Assembly related work experience.
- Ability to work multiple work stations throughout assembly lines and have a solid understanding of equipment test procedures.
- Strong knowledge of the equipment being produced on their Line.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Manual Dexterity: Work requires regular speed and accuracy for most of the working day.
Physical Effort: Work requires a considerable variety of fairly steady active physical exertion.
Working Conditions: More frequent exposure to disagreeable features.
Hazards: Injury may require a doctor's care. Time lost for part of a day may be to receive medical treatment.
