Chargemaster (CDM) Coordinator

Job Description

The Chargemaster (CDM) Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the integrity of the Chargemaster through effective management of the facility’s charge database. This role ensures compliance with all Federal, State, Local, and internal regulatory requirements.

Partners closely with clinical and operational departments to optimize charge capture, improve workflows, and support revenue integrity initiatives. This position also provides education, guidance, and decision-making support related to billing compliance, reimbursement, and CDM maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and ensure accuracy and compliance of the Chargemaster (CDM)
  • Collaborate with departments to support optimal and compliant charge capture
  • Analyze workflows to identify revenue enhancement and compliance opportunities
  • Interpret and apply Medicare, Medicaid, and other regulatory billing requirements
  • Provide education and guidance to departments on coding, billing, and CDM updates
  • Support revenue cycle initiatives related to pricing, coding, and reimbursement
  • Assist in audits, reviews, and ongoing CDM maintenance activities

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • RHIT certification preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of hospital coding and/or billing experience
  • Previous Chargemaster (CDM) experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of CPT/HCPCS coding and APC/DRG reimbursement methodologies
  • Knowledge of hospital revenue cycle processes, with emphasis on billing and charge capture
  • Ability to research, interpret, and communicate regulatory requirements (Medicare, Medicaid, Federal/State guidelines)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Epic experience preferred
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities
  • Effective communication skills with a service-oriented approach across all levels of the organization
