About This Position
The Athletic Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Athletic Director in the overall operations of the Calhoun Community College intercollegiate athletics department.
Salary: Appropriate placement on ACCS Salary Schedule E1, Grade 1: $56,139 - $73,632
Work Hours: Monday through Thursday, 7:45 a.m. - 5:15 p.m.; Friday 7:45 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.

- Assist with athletic compliance implementing all institutional, ACCC, NJCAA policies, rules, and regulations regarding recruitment, financial aid, and eligibility of student-athletes.
- Build and maintain collegial relationships with members of other departments who assist in student-athlete compliance/eligibility. (i.e.- Registrar, Financial Aid, Admissions, and Academic Advising).
- Report any compliance violations to the Athletic Director.
- Design, organize, and maintain documentation utilized for monitoring rules compliance.
- Assist in confirming eligibility certification for every semester and new season.
- Assist with the production of press releases, newsletters, media guides and game programs in collaboration with Calhoun CC Public Relations Department.
- Assist in managing athletics website in collaboration with Calhoun CC Public Relations Department.
- Assist with student-athlete awards nominations for ACCC, NJCAA, and other organizations.
- Assist in production of content for the Warhawk Athletics social media platforms (X, Facebook, Instagram, etc.) in collaboration with Calhoun CC Public Relations - including creating graphics
- Assist in management of athletic department streaming/video at home athletic events.
- Respond to requests for information from media personnel and the public.
- Plan, coordinate, and manage special events including press conferences, and media days in collaboration with Calhoun CC Public Relations Department.
- Assist in scheduling transportation for athletics.
- Assist in home athletic event management including coordinating concessions.
- Assist in advising student-athletes in collaboration with Calhoun CC Advising.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external constituencies.
- Be prompt and punctual in reporting for work. Maintain assigned office hours.
- Maintain or increase competency by seeking new knowledge and updating professional competencies.
- Become familiar with institutional policies and procedures as outlined in the College Catalog, Personnel Handbook, and State Board Policy Manual; and follow such policies and procedures.
- Promote positive and productive relationships with service area businesses, industries, and agencies.
- Serve on committees engaged in furthering the work of the institution when appointed or when elected.
- Perform other professional duties and responsibilities with professionalism as may be assigned.
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in athletics is required. Athletic experience at the high school and/or collegiate level preferred.
- Competency in the use of current educational technologies and understanding of basic computer skills and presentation software (e.g. Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, etc.) is required.
- Ability to work outside of assigned hours, including evenings and/or weekends as needed for events;
- Effective human relations skills, professionalism, enthusiasm and commitment to career exploration;
- An understanding of and commitment to the philosophy and the missions of Calhoun Community College and the Alabama Community College System;
- Ability to conduct individual and small group instruction;
