About This Position
Position Description:
The School of STEM at Avila University is seeking qualified adjunct instructors for the Biological Sciences.
Responsibilities:
Avila University needs adjunct instructors for multiple part-time appointments. Teaching responsibilities will include:
Lectures and/or labs for Introductory Biology (e.g. Cells, Genes, Ecology, Evolution, Environmental Science, Organismal Biology) or
Conduct all class sessions according to the assigned schedule.
Provide instruction, activities, assignments, assessments, and feedback to adequately cover all objectives for the specific course(s) taught,
Deliver content using effectual methods which are appropriate to students with differing abilities, levels of preparation, and cultural experience,
Work effectively with the program Chair and/or the Laboratory Manager,
Perform other duties as needed related to assigned courses.
Qualifications:
Master's degree or higher in specific discipline relevant to teaching responsibilities or a Master's degree in another area with 18 credit hours of discipline graduate coursework from an accredited university/college.
Demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching.
Teaching experience with a diverse population (preferred).
Multilingual skills highly preferred.
Ability to contribute to a climate that supports a diverse student body, serves first-generation college students, multilingual learners, and contributions to equity and social justice through their work.
Stipend based on the credit hours assigned and previous teaching experience.
