Job Description
A well-established structural and miscellaneous metals contractor in the Georgia area is seeking skilled Structural Welders and Ironworkers to support a growing pipeline of data center construction projects. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team with deep roots in mission-critical and commercial construction, working on high-visibility builds in a fast-paced, high-demand sector.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in structural steel fabrication and erection, takes pride in quality craftsmanship, and is comfortable working in active construction environments alongside general contractors and other trade partners.
Key Responsibilities- Perform structural welding and fabrication of steel components including beams, columns, stairs, railings, and miscellaneous metals in accordance with project specifications
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and engineering schematics to ensure accurate fit-up and assembly
- Erect and connect structural steel members on active data center construction sites
- Operate welding equipment including MIG (GMAW), Stick (SMAW), and Flux-Core (FCAW) processes
- Conduct visual inspections of completed welds to verify quality and structural integrity
- Follow all applicable safety protocols including OSHA standards, site-specific requirements, and proper PPE usage
- Coordinate with site supervisors, project managers, and other trade contractors to maintain project schedule and quality
- Assist with rigging, lifting, and placement of steel components as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times
Minimum Requirements:
- 2–5 years of verifiable structural welding and/or ironworking experience in a commercial or industrial construction environment
- Proficiency in at least two welding processes: MIG (GMAW), Stick (SMAW), and/or Flux-Core (FCAW)
- Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, weld symbols, and structural drawings
- Knowledge of AWS D1.1 structural steel welding code
- Ability to pass an on-site welding qualification test prior to assignment
- OSHA 10 certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
- Reliable transportation and ability to report to project sites in the Greater Atlanta area
- Authorized to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications:
- AWS Certified Welder (CW) credential
- Prior experience on data center, mission-critical, or large-scale commercial construction projects
- OSHA 30 certification
- Experience with ornamental and miscellaneous metals including pan stairs, monumental stairs, and cable/aluminum railings
- Forklift or aerial lift certification
This role requires sustained physical activity in an active construction environment. Candidates must be able to:
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and work in awkward positions for extended periods
- Lift, carry, and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. independently; heavier loads with team assistance
- Work at heights on scaffolding, ladders, and elevated platforms
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Wear and properly use all required personal protective equipment (PPE) including welding helmets, gloves, fire-resistant clothing, steel-toed boots, and safety glasses
