Job Description
Summary/Objective: The Boat Tender is responsible for welcoming guests arriving by boat and managing dock flow and guest arrival coordination. This role provides the first point of contact for guests on the water, assists with docking, and ensures a safe, organized, and positive arrival experience while supporting overall restaurant operations.
Essential Job Functions: Specific duties include, but are not limited, to the following:
Key Responsibilities:
•Greet and welcome guests as they arrive by boat.
•Assist with docking boats safely, including securing lines and guiding vessels.
•Help guests safely enter and exit boats when needed.
•Manage dock traffic and coordinate boat flow during busy periods.
•Safely pump fuel for boats as needed, following all safety procedures and environmental regulations.
•Communicate guest arrivals and estimated party sizes to host staff.
•Provide directions to the restaurant, waiting areas, and amenities.
•Maintain a clean, organized, and safe dock area.
•Monitor dock conditions and report safety concerns to management.
•Assist with general outdoor cleanliness, including dock, walkways, and surrounding areas.
•Empty trash and dispose of waste materials properly.
•Support front-of-house operations as needed during slower dock activity.
•Assist with other duties as directed by management.

•Basic knowledge of boating or willingness to learn.
•Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Travel Requirements: No travel is expected for this position.
Work Environment: This position operates in an outdoor, lakefront environment with frequent interaction with guests and staff. The role involves working near water, in varying weather conditions, and in a high-traffic, fast-paced setting.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
•Need to be able to bend, stoop, or crouch to secure lines, handle equipment, and maintain vessel components.
•The position requires standing for extended periods, maintaining balance on moving decks, and working in a noisy, outdoor maritime environment.
•Must be able to frequently lift, pull, or carry gear and equipment weighing up to 30 lbs.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
•This is a part-time, non-exempt position.
•Flexibility in working hours is required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as these are peak times for lake and restaurant traffic.
•Mandatory meetings and participation in training are required.
