This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, US Patient Assistance Program based in United States.

This leadership role is central to ensuring that patients facing financial and access barriers can receive timely and sustainable access to critical therapies. The Director will define and execute the strategy for a nationwide Patient Assistance Program, balancing long-term scalability with day-to-day operational excellence. Working within a fast-growing biotech environment, this role partners closely with patient services, market access, compliance, legal, finance, and external vendors to deliver a seamless patient support experience. It requires both strategic vision and strong operational discipline to design programs that can scale across multiple indications and future product launches. The role also plays a key part in optimizing the patient journey through data-driven insights and continuous improvement initiatives. This is a high-impact position where patient access outcomes are directly shaped by program design, execution, and leadership.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead the end-to-end strategy, design, and evolution of the Patient Assistance Program (PAP), ensuring alignment with current products and future pipeline expansion needs.
  • Build scalable, indication-agnostic program frameworks that support long-term growth and enable efficient launch readiness for new therapies.
  • Oversee daily PAP operations including intake, eligibility determination, case management workflows, and product fulfillment processes.
  • Manage and optimize performance of hub providers, specialty pharmacy partners, and third-party vendors through SLAs, KPIs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain SOPs, compliance controls, and documentation standards to ensure operational excellence and audit readiness.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Compliance, Market Access, Finance, Medical, and Commercial teams to ensure program alignment and integrity.
  • Monitor operational performance metrics and leverage insights to improve patient access pathways and overall program effectiveness.
  • Lead escalation management for complex patient cases, ensuring timely resolution with a strong patient-first approach.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, privacy requirements, and internal governance standards while maintaining strong audit readiness.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MHA, PharmD, or related) strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare operations, or patient support program leadership roles.
  • Proven experience leading patient assistance programs, hub services, call centers, or related patient access operations.
  • Strong knowledge of specialty pharmacy, benefits verification, reimbursement pathways, and patient access processes.
  • Experience managing third-party vendors and driving performance against SLAs and operational KPIs.
  • Strong understanding of compliance frameworks, including HIPAA and patient privacy regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in both strategic and hands-on executional capacities within a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate operational data into actionable improvements.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills across matrixed organizations.
  • Ability to travel approximately 30% as required.
Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary range of $184,000 – $253,000, plus eligibility for short-term and long-term incentive programs.
  • Comprehensive health benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Retirement savings plan with additional employer-supported benefits.
  • Life, disability, and supplemental insurance options.
  • Generous paid time off and additional well-being support programs.
  • Opportunity to lead a high-impact national patient access program in a fast-growing biotech environment.
  • Strong cross-functional exposure across commercial, medical, compliance, and market access teams.
  • Participation in the design and scaling of innovative patient support models across multiple therapies and indications.
