Sr. Manager - Outsourced Accounting Services (Legal Services)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Manager - Outsourced Accounting Services (Legal Services) based in the United States.

This is a senior client-facing leadership role within outsourced accounting and CFO advisory services, focused on supporting legal industry clients with high-quality financial management and strategic insight. The position blends hands-on accounting expertise with advisory responsibilities, ensuring clients receive accurate reporting, strong financial governance, and actionable business guidance. You will work across multiple client engagements, helping legal professional services organizations improve financial operations, meet reporting requirements, and strengthen decision-making. The role requires strong leadership, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage complex, multi-client environments. Operating in a fast-paced consulting setting, you will act as both a trusted advisor and an operational accounting expert. This is a highly impactful position with significant exposure to executive stakeholders and client leadership teams.

Accountabilities
  • Lead and coordinate outsourced accounting and CFO-level services for multiple legal industry clients, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across all deliverables.
  • Oversee preparation and review of financial statements, budgets, forecasts, management reports, and regulatory financial documentation.
  • Advise clients on financial strategy, including cash flow management, funding needs, investment decisions, and operational performance improvements.
  • Monitor financial KPIs, performance metrics, and reporting outputs to support informed executive decision-making.
  • Manage client relationships, including regular communication with boards, executives, bankers, and external stakeholders.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, ensuring high-quality execution and continuous development of team capabilities.
  • Support business development efforts by contributing to client expansion opportunities and strengthening existing engagements.
  • Ensure effective use of accounting systems and tools (including legal industry platforms such as CLIO) across client environments.
  • Coordinate multiple client portfolios simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to deadlines and service quality.
Requirements
  • 6+ years of experience in accounting, audit, financial reporting, or outsourced CFO services, ideally within the legal or professional services industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience in a client-facing or multi-entity environment.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience working with accounting systems and tools, including CLIO or similar legal practice management platforms.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple clients, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial insights clearly to executive and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated business acumen, with exposure to advisory, budgeting, forecasting, and KPI-driven performance management.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and comfortable operating under pressure while maintaining high-quality output.
  • CPA certification or public accounting background is preferred.
