Job Description
Burbank Urgent Care is a high-acuity urgent care facility committed to providing compassionate, efficient, and high-quality patient care. This Medical Assistant position is dual-role position designed to support both clinical and front office operations. This position was intentionally created as the first step in the clinic's transition to a flexible staffing model. Medical Assistants are expected to support both clinical and registration functions as operational needs require. Duties are generally based on patient volume and clinic needs.
Requirements:Essential Clinic Functions
- Prepare patients for examinations.
- Obtain/document vital signs, and patient history.
- Assist providers during examinations and procedures.
- Administer medications/injections within scope.
- Perform EKGs, venipuncture, rapid testing, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing.
- Perform wound care, splinting and delegate procedures.
- Maintain exam rooms, supplies and sterilization and infection control.
- Document accurately in the EMR and maintain HIPAA compliance.
Essential Front Office Functions
- Register patients and verify demographics.
- Collect insurance information and copayments.
- Answer telephones and schedule appointments.
- Scan/upload documents
- Assist with insurance verification
- Provide registration coverage during lunches, breaks, absences, staffing shortages and periods of high patient volume.
