Position Title: Field Marshal
Reports To: Leagues Director
Direct Reports: None
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Under the direction of the Leagues Director, the Field Marshal plays a key role in creating a safe, organized, and enjoyable experience for all league and tournament participants. Field Marshals serve as the primary on-field representative of New England Sports Hub by providing exceptional customer service, enforcing facility and league policies, supporting game operations, and maintaining a positive environment for players, coaches, officials, and spectators.
As part of this role, Field Marshals may officiate low-stakes youth recreational league games. Employees who successfully complete officiating training and demonstrate proficiency will have opportunities to officiate additional in-house league games at a higher hourly rate.
Essential ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service- Welcome players, coaches, officials, and spectators in a friendly and professional manner.
- Deliver exceptional customer service while creating a positive game-day experience.
- Address participant questions and concerns professionally and escalate issues when necessary.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for coaches, players, and spectators during league play.
- Communicate schedules, field assignments, league rules, facility policies, and operational updates clearly and professionally.
- Ensure games begin and end on schedule.
- Monitor field activity and maintain efficient game flow throughout the day.
- Coordinate with front desk staff and league leadership to resolve scheduling or operational issues.
- Enforce league rules, facility policies, and standards of sportsmanship.
- Address disputes calmly, consistently, and professionally.
- Promote a respectful environment for all participants.
- Officiate recreational, low-stakes youth league games using league-specific rules.
- Make fair, consistent, and impartial decisions while emphasizing sportsmanship, learning, and player development.
- Maintain control of games in a positive, instructional manner.
- Participate in officiating training and continuing development opportunities.
- Monitor playing areas and concourse for hazards and unsafe conditions.
- Enforce all facility safety policies and participant conduct expectations.
- Respond appropriately to incidents, injuries, or emergencies and complete incident reports as required.
- Prepare playing fields before games, including goals, equipment, and game materials.
- Assist with field cleanup and ensure equipment is returned and stored properly after play.
- Report damaged or missing equipment promptly.
- Verify player eligibility and roster compliance before games.
- Direct non-rostered or unregistered players to the front desk to complete registration requirements.
- Assist with enforcing league roster policies.
- Promote facility programs, leagues, tournaments, memberships, and special events as directed.
- Assist with other operational duties to support successful league and tournament execution.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming facility throughout each shift.
- Sweep the concourse, entrances, and other assigned public areas as needed.
- Wipe down restroom sinks, counters, and other high-touch surfaces to maintain cleanliness and presentation.
- Empty trash receptacles throughout the facility and replace liners when necessary.
- Identify and report any maintenance, safety, or cleanliness concerns that require additional attention.
- Complete routine cleaning tasks between games and at the end of each shift to ensure the facility is ready for the next group of guests.

- Ability to make fair and consistent decisions under pressure.
- Comfortable working evenings, weekends, and holidays as league schedules require.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and work both indoors and outdoors as needed.
Field Marshals receive training in youth league officiating and game management. Employees who successfully complete officiating certification and demonstrate strong performance may be assigned additional in-house league officiating opportunities.
Field Marshals have the opportunity to earn a higher hourly wage while officiating games. Pay increases are based on completion of officiating training, demonstrated performance, experience, and the level of games assigned. This creates a clear pathway for employees to develop their officiating skills while increasing their earning potential.

Work LocationOn-Site Requirement: This position requires 100% on-site attendance.
Requirements:Experience/Required Skills:
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Ability to create a welcoming and positive environment for all customers.
- Ability problem solve on the fly.
- Experience operating or facilitating youth or adult leagues or tournaments.
- Prior experience with a wide range of sports, (ie, soccer, baseball/softball, lacrosse, football, etc) their rules, equipment needs and best practices
- Ability to calmly and effectively resolve conflicts related to league and tournament participants or spectators.
- Organization and effective prioritization of responsibilities.
- 1-2 years’ customer service-related experience, preferably in youth and/or adult sports.
- Experience with DaySmart Recreation software preferred
- Proficient computer abilities with a variety of applications including MS Suite, Google Suite
Physical Demands
- Required to be on your feet and move around the facility for extended periods of time
- Required to periodically set up fields and move heavy goals and netting into place weighing up to 50lbs.
- Frequent bending and stooping to pick up balls and other items from the turf, move and set up netting, etc.
