ABOUT OMB
The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery (OMB) is a celebrated craft brewery based in Charlotte, North Carolina, known for its unwavering commitment to quality, authenticity, and hospitality. Founded in 2009, OMB proudly brews its beers in accordance with the German Purity Law (Reinheitsgebot of 1516), producing traditional, high-quality beers made with only water, barley, hops, and yeast.
OMB currently operates two hospitality-driven brewery destinations. Our flagship location in Charlotte's Lower South End (LoSo) features a full-service restaurant, brewery, and expansive biergarten, and has become one of the region's most iconic gathering places. In June 2024, OMB expanded with the opening of a second location in Ballantyne — a large, two-story restaurant and biergarten designed to elevate the guest experience and extend OMB's presence in the Charlotte market. Beyond our own taprooms, OMB beers reach drinkers across North Carolina and South Carolina through our wholesale partners — in bars, restaurants, bottle shops, and grocery accounts throughout the Carolinas.
As OMB continues to grow, we are actively planning our third location in Mount Holly, scheduled to open in Fall 2026. This next phase of expansion reflects OMB's long-term vision to thoughtfully grow while maintaining the culture, quality, and sense of community that define the brand.
OMB is deeply rooted in the Charlotte region and takes pride in being a place where exceptional beer, authentic food, and genuine hospitality come together. Each location is built around creating memorable experiences for guests and a strong, values-driven culture for our team.
ABOUT THE ROLE
THE ROLE AT A GLANCE The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery is seeking a driven Sales Representative to join our wholesale sales team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in the field — building real relationships with the bars, restaurants, bottle shops, and grocery accounts that put OMB in front of drinkers every day. Our Sales Representatives are the face of OMB in the market. Working hand in hand with our wholesale partners across North Carolina and South Carolina, you will grow distribution and volume, protect the quality and presentation of our beer at every account, and represent the brand with the same hospitality and pride our guests experience at our biergartens. This is an independent, relationship-driven, results-measured role for someone who wants to own a territory and be the reason an account chooses OMB. |
WHAT YOU'LL DO
■ OWN YOUR TERRITORY
- Serve as the face of OMB in your assigned territory, building genuine, lasting relationships with on-premise and off-premise accounts.
- Plan and run an efficient weekly call schedule that prioritizes accounts by volume, opportunity, and brand fit.
- Service existing accounts consistently while prospecting and opening new points of distribution.
■ GROW DISTRIBUTION AND VOLUME
- Secure and defend tap handles, shelf space, cooler sets, and display placements for OMB brands.
- Deliver against territory goals for depletions, new accounts, and points of distribution.
- Present new releases and seasonals to buyers with a clear, compelling case, and track account performance, competitive activity, and market trends.
■ PARTNER WITH OUR WHOLESALERS
- Work side by side with wholesaler sales teams — ride-withs, market surveys, general sales meetings, and crew drives.
- Educate wholesaler personnel on OMB's beers, brand story, and quality standards so they sell us well when you are not in the room.
- Monitor wholesaler inventory, ordering, and rotation, and operate in full compliance with the three-tier system and NC and SC ABC regulations.
■ PROTECT THE BEER AND THE BRAND
- Audit draft quality, product rotation, code dates, and cold-chain handling at every visit — no guest's first OMB should be a bad pour.
- Ensure OMB tap handles, point-of-sale, menu presence, and merchandising meet brand standards.
- Lead staff trainings, tastings, and beer education so account teams can sell OMB with confidence.
■ SHOW UP FOR THE COMMUNITY
- Own OMB's presence at festivals, tap takeovers, pint nights, and account events across your territory.
- Represent OMB in the market with the same hospitality and pride our guests experience at our biergartens.
- Partner with marketing on local activations and sponsorships, and share what you learn with your fellow Sales Representatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of sales experience in craft beer, beverage alcohol, or another three-tier distribution environment; brewery or wholesaler experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success growing volume and distribution in an assigned territory.
- Working knowledge of the three-tier system and NC and/or SC ABC regulations.
- Comfort with data — depletion and inventory reports, CRM or route-planning tools, and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong presentation, negotiation, and follow-through skills; you do what you say you will do, when you said you would do it.
- Self-directed, organized, and accountable — you run your own week without daily supervision.
- Genuine passion for craft beer and OMB's standard of quality; Cicerone Certified Beer Server, or willingness to earn it within your first year.
- Must be 21 or older, hold a valid driver's license with a clean driving record, and be insurable under OMB's vehicle policy.
- Ability to lift and move cases and kegs (50+ lbs regularly, heavier with assistance) and to be on your feet throughout the day.
- Comfortable working from a smartphone and tablet in the field for surveys, reporting, and order entry.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight travel as the business requires.
