Barn Staff in St. Francisville, Louisiana at Girl Scouts Louisiana East, Inc.

Key Responsibilities:

• Instruct campers in Western horseback riding and ground-based horsemanship (grooming, tacking, mucking, etc.)
• Care for horse herd: feeding, medications, grooming, and overall well-being
• Maintain safety standards in all equestrian areas and activities
• Supervise and train camp staff to assist with horse-related programs
• Perform routine checks and maintenance on equipment and riding areas
• Support other camp programming and counselor duties as needed
• Ensure programs align with Girl Scouts outcomes and ACA standards

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 2 years of experience with Western riding and horse care
• Proficiency in horse handling skills (haltering, grooming, leading, etc.)
• CPR & First Aid certified (or willing to obtain shortly after hire)
• Preferred: Participation in 4-H or other organized equestrian programs

Other Requirements:

• Minimum age is 18
• Ability to pass a background check
• Valid, unencumbered driver’s license and proof of auto insurance
• Must join Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) as a member (upon hire)
• Must be able to work flexible hours including overtime if needed
