Job Description
Position Description:
Key Responsibilities:
- Instruct campers in Western horseback riding and ground-based horsemanship (grooming, tacking, mucking, etc.)
- Care for horse herd: feeding, medications, grooming, and overall well-being
- Maintain safety standards in all equestrian areas and activities
- Supervise and train camp staff to assist with horse-related programs
- Perform routine checks and maintenance on equipment and riding areas
- Support other camp programming and counselor duties as needed
- Ensure programs align with Girl Scouts outcomes and ACA standards
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 2 years of experience with Western riding and horse care
- Proficiency in horse handling skills (haltering, grooming, leading, etc.)
- CPR & First Aid certified (or willing to obtain shortly after hire)
- Preferred: Participation in 4-H or other organized equestrian programs
Other Requirements:
- Minimum age is 18
- Ability to pass a background check
- Valid, unencumbered driver’s license and proof of auto insurance
- Must join Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) as a member (upon hire)
- Must be able to work flexible hours including overtime if needed
Additional Information: Successful candidates must pass a criminal background check as part of the pre-employment hiring process.
