Junior Set-Up Mechanic (Tier 1)
Location: Farmingdale, NJ
Employment Type: Full-Time/On Site
Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM (1st Shift)
Monday – Thursday, 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM (2nd Shift)
Pay Rate: $18-$22 per hour

Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated Junior Set-Up Technician (Tier 1) to join our Maintenance team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring our manufacturing and packaging lines run smoothly, safely, and efficiently. This is an excellent entry-level technical opportunity for someone with a strong work ethic, great attention to detail, and a desire to learn and grow within a fast-paced production environment. Your primary focus will be keeping line downtime to an absolute minimum through efficient assembly, disassembly, and equipment care.
Key Responsibilities
• Line Maintenance & Setup: Disassemble, thoroughly wash down, and reassemble filler packaging lines (Lines 1–5). Assist mechanics with the disassembly and washdown of powder line equipment.
• Equipment Care: Ensure all machinery parts are handled properly, repaired, and reinstalled without damage. Inspect parts and promptly report any damage to the supervisor.
• Floor Awareness: Quickly learn to recognize the types and precise locations of all equipment across the packaging floor.
• Shop Safety & Organization: Maintain a clean, safe, and highly organized shop environment. Follow all OSHA safety precautions, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines.
• Team Collaboration: Work independently or collaboratively within a team-oriented plant environment, adapting quickly to changing production needs and timelines.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Prior experience working with packaging line machinery or in a similar manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Strong technical aptitude, keen observation skills, and high attention to detail. Ability to follow precise instructions and technical timelines.
• : Excellent communication, a reliability-first mindset, and a strong desire to learn and succeed.
• A commitment to consistent, regular, on-site attendance.
• Must be comfortable working in a manufacturing plant environment with potential exposure to powders, chemicals, and common food allergens (including peanuts, tree nuts, milk, dairy, eggs, wheat, gluten, soy, fish, and shellfish).
• Able to stand and walk for extended periods. Frequent lifting (up to 34–66% of the shift), bending, twisting, and sitting are required, as well as occasional pushing and pulling.
Work Environment
This position operates in both office and manufacturing settings with exposure to machinery, noise, forklifts, chemicals, and varying temperatures. Appropriate PPE must be worn when entering production areas.
