Job Description

Ascentec Engineering is seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician to support the reliability and performance of our manufacturing equipment and facility. The primary responsibility of this role is to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot equipment issues, and complete repairs on CNC machinery and facility support systems to minimize downtime and maximize production efficiency.

When maintenance tasks are not required, this position will support production by operating CNC machines, performing quality inspections, and assisting with machining operations. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and comfortable working in both maintenance and production environments.

The successful candidate is a proactive maintenance professional who enjoys solving equipment issues and preventing downtime. While maintenance is the primary focus of this position, the ability to operate CNC equipment and support production during periods of minimal maintenance activity is essential. This role offers variety, hands-on technical work, and the opportunity to contribute directly to both equipment reliability and manufacturing success.

This position is on-site, not remote and not hybrid, and not eligible for Visa sponsorship or transfer of Visa sponsorship.

Primary Responsibilities – Maintenance

  • Perform preventive maintenance on CNC machine tools and production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Monitor and maintain lubrication systems, coolant levels, cutting fluid systems, and metal recycling equipment.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on facility support systems including HVAC, electrical, lighting, plumbing, compressed air, and water systems.
  • Assist with machine installation, relocation, and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Utilize technical manuals, schematics, and manufacturer documentation to diagnose and repair equipment.
  • Maintain maintenance records and document completed work.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Follow all company safety policies and preventive maintenance procedures.

Secondary Responsibilities – CNC Operations

  • Operate CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment during periods when maintenance support is not required.
  • Load materials, tooling, and fixtures according to work instructions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and engineering drawings.
  • Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Make minor tool offsets and adjustments as needed within established procedures.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
  • Assist production teams in meeting quality and scheduling requirements.

Qualifications

  • Experience maintaining CNC machining centers and industrial manufacturing equipment preferred.
  • Experience operating CNC machines in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring instruments and machining processes.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize maintenance activities while supporting production needs.
  • Experience using common hand and power tools.
  • Welding (MIG/TIG) experience is a plus.
  • Forklift and/or manlift experience is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights up to 24 feet.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
