About the Role:
The Fleet Manager will be responsible for overseeing the entire fleet operations within a manufacturing environment, ensuring that all vehicles and equipment are maintained, compliant, and operating efficiently to support production and distribution goals. This role requires strategic planning and execution of fleet maintenance schedules, adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and optimization of logistics and transportation management to minimize downtime and costs. The Fleet Manager will lead a team responsible for dispatching, vehicle servicing, and maintenance, ensuring that all service department activities align with company standards and safety protocols. Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Transportation Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet management within a manufacturing or transportation environment.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proven experience managing fleet maintenance and service operations.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Fleet Management (e.g., Certified Automotive Fleet Manager - CAFM).
- Experience with transportation management systems (TMS) and fleet management software.
- Background in logistics management and supply chain coordination.
- Familiarity with truck maintenance and repair processes specific to heavy-duty vehicles.
- Demonstrated success in cost reduction and process improvement initiatives within fleet operations.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive fleet management strategies to optimize vehicle utilization and reduce operational costs.
- Manage and oversee all fleet maintenance activities, including scheduling preventive maintenance and coordinating repairs to ensure vehicle safety and reliability.
- Ensure full compliance with DOT regulations and other relevant transportation laws, maintaining accurate records and preparing for audits.
- Coordinate daily dispatching operations to support manufacturing logistics and timely delivery of goods.
- Supervise the service department team, providing leadership, training, and performance management to maintain high service standards.
- Monitor fleet performance metrics and prepare regular reports to senior management on fleet status, costs, and compliance.
- Collaborate with procurement and vendor management teams to source parts, services, and new vehicles as needed.
- Implement safety programs and conduct regular inspections to promote a culture of safety within the fleet operations.
