Job Title: Welder Apprentice

Job Summary
The Welder Apprentice supports the fabrication of pressurized CO₂ vessels and related industrial equipment by learning and performing welding, fitting, cutting, and assembly tasks under the direction of certified welders and supervisors. This role is designed to build skills and knowledge in welding processes, safety standards, and manufacturing operations within a regulated environment (ASME, OSHA).
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in welding and fabrication of carbon steel and stainless-steel pressure vessels, tanks, and piping components.
- Train and develop proficiency in welding processes such as MIG, TIG, and Stick according to quality standards.
- Read and interpret basic shop drawings, weld symbols, and blueprints.
- Operate and maintain hand tools, grinders, cutting torches, and basic fabrication equipment.
- Prepare materials for welding — including cleaning, measuring, clamping, and tack welding.
- Support fit-up, alignment, and positioning of vessel components before weld completion.
- Follow ASME code standards and internal quality guidelines for weld integrity and inspection readiness.
- Adhere to all safety procedures including safe handling of gases and pressurized systems.
- Perform housekeeping and maintenance of assigned work area and tools.
- Participate in skills assessments, safety training, and continuous improvement activities.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in welding and metal fabrication.
- Ability to perform physical work includes lifting up to 50 lbs., standing for extended periods, and working in confined positions.
- Willingness to learn and follow direction in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Reliable attendance and teamwork mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous exposure to welding through vocational school, certifications, hobby welding, or industrial experience.
- Familiarity with MIG/TIG welding basics and common shop tools.
- Knowledge of pressure vessel or industrial gas manufacturing is a plus.
- Willingness to obtain welding certifications (ASME, AWS).

Work Environment
Manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, sparks, noise, and heavy machinery. PPE required (e.g., helmet, gloves, safety glasses, steel-toe boots).

Upon demonstrated proficiency and successful certification, the Welder Apprentice may progress to Welder I role with expanded responsibility and pay growth.
