About mimic
mimic robotics is a frontier physical AI company building the full stack of general-purpose dexterous manipulation. Founded in 2024 by ETH Zurich researchers, mimic pioneered Video-Action Models for robotics while also developing in-house dexterous hand hardware. Our growing team brings together world-class researchers working across our offices in Zurich and San Francisco.

As a Field Engineer, you will own the deployment, commissioning, uptime, and operational performance of mimic's robot stations at customer sites. You will be responsible for installing, programming, integrating, and servicing complete robotic systems, including industrial robot arms, actuators, low-voltage electrical systems, control cabinets, and PLC-based automation. Working across hardware, electrical, and software domains, you will diagnose and resolve issues in real-world production environments, ensuring reliable system operation while acting as the primary technical contact during customer deployments.
You will collaborate closely with the Engineering, AI, and Product teams to improve system reliability, streamline deployments, and help shape the next generation of industrial robotics platforms.

Responsibilities
  • Deploy, commission, and validate robotic stations at customer sites.
  • Design, assemble, wire, and service low-voltage electrical systems, control cabinets, and robotics hardware.
  • Integrate, program, and troubleshoot industrial actuators, sensors, PLCs, and automation systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, and software issues across robotic systems, Linux environments, and mimic's software stack.
  • Perform hardware integration, system testing, and commissioning to ensure reliable operation.
  • Work closely with the AI team to reproduce, analyze, and resolve field failures.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact on-site, providing professional customer support during deployments and service activities.
  • Capture field learnings and drive continuous improvements to product reliability, deployment processes, and serviceability.

What you bring
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience deploying, integrating, or commissioning industrial robotic systems.
  • Hands-on experience designing, assembling, wiring, and troubleshooting low-voltage electrical systems and industrial control hardware.
  • Experience programming, configuring, and debugging PLCs and industrial automation systems.
  • Experience integrating industrial actuators, sensors, drives, and field devices.
  • Comfortable working with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control documentation.
  • Comfortable working with hand tools, mechanical assemblies, cabling, and hardware integration.
  • Comfortable working and debugging in Linux environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills spanning software, hardware, electrical, and electromechanical systems.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (German is a strong plus).
  • Willingness to travel frequently for customer deployments and customer support.
  • Valid Category B driving license.

Nice to have
  • Familiarity with ROS2
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols such as EtherCAT, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, CANopen, or Modbus.
  • Experience with industrial safety systems, functional safety, or machine commissioning.
  • Experience designing electrical panels or machine control systems.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools for electrical schematics (e.g. EPLAN) or mechanical integration.
  • Experience working in industrial automation, special machinery, or robotic integration.

Compensation & Benefits
  • We offer a total compensation package including a competitive yearly base salary and a strong stock option package to make you part of our shared success.
  • You will work with the founders from day one, shaping the company and participating in its success from its very beginning

You will have the opportunity to shape a robotics & AI company from the ground up. In flat hierarchies, you will work directly with the founders and some of the best talents in the robotics space. At mimic, you are accepted for who you are. As part of our ongoing journey towards creating a diverse and inclusive environment, we encourage everyone to apply, and we are looking forward to you bringing along your knowledge, personal experiences, and fresh perspectives. Together, we can solve some of the greatest challenges in robotics.
