Responsibilities
The Assistant Superintendent – Mission Critical partners with the Superintendent to oversee the day-to-day field operations of complex mission critical construction projects. This role helps ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards while maintaining schedule and budget objectives. The Assistant Superintendent coordinates subcontractors, site logistics, quality control, commissioning activities, and project closeout, while fostering strong relationships with clients, trade partners, and internal project teams to drive successful project delivery.
- Develop a thorough understanding of project scope, contract requirements, schedules, budgets, and overall project objectives.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager and Superintendent to maintain procurement schedules, master project schedules, pull plans, and three-week look-ahead schedules.
- Coordinate trade sequencing, site logistics, and daily construction activities to ensure safe, efficient, and on-time project execution.
- Review construction drawings and specifications to identify constructability issues and assist with procurement and subcontractor buyout activities.
- Coordinate submittals, inspections, quality control processes, testing, and commissioning activities to ensure compliance with contract documents and project standards.
- Monitor the installation of mechanical, electrical, and other critical building systems to verify quality, completeness, and adherence to project requirements.
- Champion Shawmut's safety culture by conducting routine site inspections, enforcing safety protocols, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and all applicable regulatory requirements.
- Track subcontractor progress, field changes, RFIs, project documentation, and potential risks while proactively communicating issues and solutions to the project team.
- Assist in managing punch list completion, as-built documentation, warranty turnover, and all project closeout activities.
- Foster strong working relationships with clients, architects, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, and Shawmut team members through proactive communication, collaboration, and problem-solving.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3+ years of commercial construction field experience with 1+ years of Mission Critical/Data Center experience.
- Experience supporting projects valued between $1M and$25M.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering or commensurate work experience.
- Willingness to travel and relocate as project needs require.
- Willingness to travel 100% and relocate as project needs require.
