Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Starting Pay: From $22.00 per hour (higher starting rate available based on experience)
A manufacturing company in the Baltimore area is seeking a dependable Metal Forming Technician with experience operating press brake equipment. This position focuses on producing precision sheet metal components by accurately bending and forming materials according to engineering specifications and production requirements.
The ideal candidate has experience working from blueprints, performing quality checks, and maintaining a strong commitment to safety, accuracy, and productivity.
- Set up and operate press brake machinery to form sheet metal parts to required specifications.
- Review blueprints, shop drawings, work instructions, and production paperwork before beginning jobs.
- Choose and install the appropriate tooling, dies, and machine settings for each project.
- Monitor production runs and make adjustments as needed to maintain part quality.
- Perform quality checks throughout the manufacturing process.
- Verify dimensions using precision inspection tools, including calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
- Identify and report any quality, tooling, or machine-related issues.
- Maintain an organized work area and follow all workplace safety procedures.
- Work collaboratively with production personnel to meet scheduling and quality expectations.
- At least 1 year of press brake operating experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and production documentation.
- Experience using inspection and measuring tools such as:
- Calipers
- Micrometers
- Tape Measure
- Standard quality-control instruments
- Strong mechanical aptitude and basic math skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to consistently produce accurate work.
- Ability to work independently and remain productive in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks associated with manufacturing work.
