This role requires a blend of fieldwork and office-based tasks, with opportunities for problem-solving and critical thinking in a dynamic and challenging work environment.

Scope of the Role:
The Survey team works in both the field and office environment to create the essential layouts for our construction projects. Using specialized survey equipment as well as CAD/Drafting software, Surveyors are responsible for accurately determining a project site’s layout. From collecting field survey data, through the downloading and processing of this information, to the final drafting of project documents, this position is responsible for performing all stages of the needed computations for the construction stakeout.

Candidates for this role must have a high level of proficiency in both their verbal and written communications, and must be able to speak professionally with both customers and the various stakeholders on a project.

Additionally, due to the size of our organization, this role may be called on to consult and manage multiple ongoing projects simultaneously. Having the demonstrated ability to adapt to competing priorities and meet deadlines in this changing environment will be key. Surveyors must be able to work independently and safely travel to and traverse construction sites due to the nature of this position. They must be able to maintain safe work practices in all environments, and candidates should be capable of performing the physical work in the field this role requires. All members of the Survey team must promote the qualities of safety, quality, and integrity that characterize work performed by Engineers Construction, Inc.

Technical Capacity:
Due to the high level of technical competency that the Surveyor position entails, it is necessary for candidates to have in-depth experience with the construction industry. Familiarity with survey principles and techniques is essential to be successful in this role, and candidates should be proficient in takeoff, arithmetic, layout, measurement, and differential leveling. While not required, Licensed Land Surveyors are preferred.

Surveyors at ECI will be called upon to utilize CAD/Drafting software for their layouts, and must possess baseline technological familiarity. They must also be able to operate Robotic Total Stations, data collectors, auto levels, laser levels, and GPS survey units to perform the essential functions of their role. Familiarity with Trimble Survey Equipment is a key quality for an ideal candidate.

Candidates with educational backgrounds in Land Surveying and/or Civil Engineering Technologies, or the equivalent job experience to a field-specific Bachelor’s degree, will be highly sought after for this position. Consideration will also be given to discipline-related certifications such as OSHA30.

To be successful in this role, individuals must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to quickly learn and thoroughly understand the details of a project, and the attention to detail to keep detailed field notes on their stakeout activities.
