Job Description:
Position Overview: Production Operator I
Wilsonart, in Columbia, currently has an opening for a Production Operator I. This position bonds all panels on the day’s daily production schedule. They are responsible for the daily cleaning and maintenance of the glue line. They work with both Laminate and Core Staging to report and replace any laminate or core that is damaged during the process. Performs other tasks as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Receives all material from the manufacturing facilities and vendors
• Checks and places materials in the correct bin
• Checks material against the manifest and reports discrepancies
• Informs supervisor and photographs all defective materials
• Cut down over-sized laminate and core to fill pending orders
• Reads, interprets, processes, and packs orders
• Assists with other warehouse duties based on business need
• Assists the needs of the customer
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to learn materials inventoried
- Ability to learn packing techniques
- Ability to learn proper material handling techniques
- Ability to understand and follow directions
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to drive a lift truck
- Ability to read and understand customer orders
- Ability to learn to operate a panel saw
- Ability to trim excess laminate off of panels on an as needed basis
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School Graduate or GED
EXPERIENCE
- 1+ years work history
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Performing tasks with team members which includes lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50lbs
- Continuous physical exertion such as walking and standing throughout the day is also required.
ENVIRONMENT
Located in an environment with regular exposure to fumes or odors, temperature extremes, or loud noises which cause noticeable discomfort or moderate risk of accident or illness. Examples: engineering, waste mgt, laundry workers and yards/grounds staff
