This role supports the financial and operational control of projects within a Power Delivery organization, partnering closely with project managers and leadership.
You will provide accurate budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, billing coordination, and portfolio-level reporting to support informed business decisions.
The position serves as a key connection between project execution and Finance, helping identify financial risks and performance trends early.
You will develop ETC and EAC forecasts, monitor project margins and backlogs, and provide visibility into commitments, billing, and revenue.
The role also contributes to standardized project-control processes and the adoption of Deltek Vantagepoint and related enterprise systems.
You will work across project teams, Finance, and operational leadership in a collaborative environment focused on consistency, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
This opportunity is well suited to an analytical project-controls professional with experience supporting engineering, construction, utilities, infrastructure, or professional-services projects.

• Establish and maintain project financial baselines, budgets, labor-hour plans, cost structures, and related financial controls across projects, tasks, phases, labor categories, subcontractors, and direct costs.
• Monitor actual labor hours and costs against budgets, analyze burn rates and remaining budgets, and identify unfavorable trends or emerging financial risks.
• Develop and maintain Estimate to Complete and Estimate at Completion forecasts in collaboration with project managers, including rolling revenue and cost forecasts and explanations for significant changes.
• Consolidate project-level information into portfolio reporting covering contract and task-order value, budgets, actual costs, remaining budgets, revenue, projected margins, backlog, funded backlog, billing status, unbilled work, accounts receivable, subcontractor commitments, and pending changes.
• Coordinate with project managers and Finance to support accurate and timely invoicing, resolve project-level billing issues, monitor unbilled balances, and provide information required for revenue recognition and month-end activities.
• Track contract amendments, task orders, change orders, additional services, subcontractor commitments, and pending scope or funding changes to identify projects approaching or exceeding authorized scope or budget.
• Conduct recurring financial reviews with project managers, prepare reporting for monthly project and division operating reviews, identify projects requiring management attention, and track resulting action items.
• Support workload and resource forecasting using active backlog, project schedules, anticipated awards, and projected demand.
• Develop and maintain standardized project-controls procedures, reporting practices, project coding, work breakdown structures, forecasting methods, and financial review processes.
• Use Deltek Vantagepoint for project setup, budgeting, planning, labor and expense tracking, financial reporting, billing visibility, and forecasting.
• Support project managers in adopting consistent financial-management practices within the new project-management system.
• Help align project-controls practices with broader enterprise systems, processes, reporting requirements, and financial controls during organizational integration.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in project controls, project accounting, financial analysis, project management support, or another project-based financial role.
• Experience supporting engineering, construction, utilities, infrastructure, EPC, or professional-services projects.
• Strong understanding of project budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, financial reporting, and project performance analysis.
• Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining Estimate to Complete and Estimate at Completion forecasts.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with ERP, project accounting, project management, or financial reporting systems.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work directly with project managers and translate project execution information into accurate financial forecasts and actionable reporting.
• Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint, particularly project setup, budgeting, planning, cost tracking, forecasting, billing, and project financial reporting, is preferred.
• Experience supporting a transition from Deltek Vision to Deltek Vantagepoint or implementing Vantagepoint within a project-based organization is preferred.
• Experience in electric utilities or Power Delivery, including substation, transmission, distribution, protection and controls, or related infrastructure programs, is preferred.
• Previous engineering consulting or professional-services experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with time-and-materials, fixed-price, unit-rate, and task-order contracting structures is preferred.
• Experience creating project dashboards using Excel, Power BI, Deltek reporting tools, or similar business-intelligence platforms is preferred.
• Familiarity with earned value concepts and project performance metrics is preferred.
• Experience supporting organizational integration or standardized project-control implementations is preferred.
• PMP, AACE, or another relevant project-controls certification is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work effectively in professional office and remote environments using standard office technology.
