Pest Control Technician in Kensington, Maryland at BAM's Landscaping

BAM’S Landscaping & Lawn Care is looking for a motivated Pest Technician to join our growing team!

This is a varied, hands-on pest-control position covering mosquito, tick, and general nuisance-pest services around residential properties. No two days are necessarily the same—you may spend part of the day performing mosquito and tick treatments, then transition to inspecting and treating homes for other common nuisance pests.

• Perform mosquito and tick control treatments around residential properties
• Perform general pest-control applications for common nuisance pests in and around homes
• Inspect properties to identify pest activity, conducive conditions, and potential entry points
• Diagnose pest problems and determine appropriate treatment methods
• Apply pesticides safely and according to label requirements
• Perform exterior perimeter and targeted pest treatments
• Treat common nuisance pests such as ants, spiders, wasps, stinging insects, and other pests within the scope of your certification
• Educate customers about pest activity, prevention, and recommended corrective measures
• Perform follow-up service and monitor previously treated areas
• Properly calibrate and maintain sprayers and other application equipment
• Maintain accurate pesticide application and service records
• Use a smartphone and company technology to document services and communicate with the office
• Participate in continuing education and product/service training
• Maintain clean, organized, and properly functioning equipment
• Perform other related pest-control and outdoor service duties as needed

We’re looking for a problem-solver and DOER who wants to build a career in the pest-control industry and take pride in solving customers’ pest problems.

The ideal candidate:

• Has experience in pest control, landscaping, lawn care, horticulture, or a related outdoor service industry
• Has practical knowledge of common household and nuisance pests or is willing to learn
• Takes pride in quality workmanship and attention to detail
• Has excellent communication and customer-service skills
• Is dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently
• Works well as part of a team
• Is comfortable using a smartphone and basic technology
• Has a valid driver’s license
• Can perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions
• Is comfortable working around homes, landscaping, crawlspaces, garages, and other residential environments
• Must be able to pass a drug test

Maryland pesticide certification is preferred but not required. We can train the right candidate.

Preference will be given to applicants who already hold:

• Maryland Department of Agriculture Category 7A – General Pest Control
• Maryland Department of Agriculture Category 8 – Public Health
• Other relevant Maryland pesticide certifications (7c a plus)

Qualified employees may be able to work under BAMS’ Business Applicator License while completing the training and certification process necessary to obtain their own credentials.

BAMS will provide training and continuing education to help the right employee expand their knowledge and certifications.

This position is designed to provide variety throughout the season.

Depending on the time of year and customer needs, your work may include:

Spring & Summer

• Mosquito control
• Tick control
• Ants
• Spiders
• Wasps and other nuisance/stinging pests
• Exterior perimeter treatments
• Residential pest inspections

Fall & Winter

• Interior general pest services
• Seasonal nuisance-pest problems
• Preventative exterior treatments when appropriate
• Pest inspections and follow-up services
• Preparation for the following mosquito and tick season
