General Description

The purpose of this job is to safely and responsibly transport, deliver and receive packages, mail, documents, and equipment essential to the support of consumer services. An employee in a position allocated to this class is responsible for planning routes, verifying deliveries and receipts, and protecting items during transit. Occasional assistance with inventory receiving and stocking will be required.

This class works under close to general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

  • Establish and maintain working relations with staff and the public, as well as with their supervisor.
  • Maintain punctual and regular attendance.
  • Pick up and deliver supplies, materials, and equipment from suppliers and vendors in and out of the Purchasing Department to the designated EHN department
  • Coordinate with Purchasing staff on the process and delivery of mail and supplies.
  • Drive a company vehicle daily to assigned locations to complete scheduled duties. Inspect vehicle daily for safety.
  • Prepare cargo by organizing, loading and securing during transit to designated locations.
  • Deliver and collect mail in accordance with company policies.
  • Sort and weigh all outgoing mail; affix postage using postage meter.
  • Check delivery of packages and supplies against documentation provided for accuracy and ensure collection of recipient signatures when necessary.
  • Work with the department staff to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned orders.
  • Adhere to inventory management protocol when conducting duties.
  • Maintains reports of inventory records as necessary
  • Assists in receiving, storing and monitoring of supplies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by two (2) years of experience in customer service, inventory control, warehouse services or related field; or possession of any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Required Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of trauma-informed theories, principals, and practices (includes multi-faceted understanding of concepts such as community trauma, intergenerational and historical trauma, parallel processes, and universal precautions), preferred.

  • Must possess familiarity with local traffic laws as well as ability to maintain a good driving record. Knowledge of inventory management is preferred but not required.

Physical Demands

Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, dancing, stretching, or lifting all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or exceptional skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving close tolerances or limits of accuracy.

  • Involves routine and frequent exposure to:
    • Bright/dim light; Dusts and pollen.
    • Extreme heat and/or cold; Wet or humid conditions.
    • Extreme noise levels, Animals/wildlife.
    • Vibration; Fumes and/or noxious odors.
    • Traffic; Moving machinery.
    • Electrical shock; Heights.
    • Radiation; Disease/pathogens.
    • Toxic/caustic chemicals; Explosives; Violence.
    • Other extreme hazards not listed above.

Special Certifications and Licenses

  • Must possess and maintain a valid state Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a TB, criminal background and drug screen.
