This role requires weekend, holiday, early morning and/or late evening availability. This is a part-time on- call position with variable hours based on availability and business needs. Flexibility with scheduling is essential to support hotel operations and respond to changing staffing demands.

JOB SUMMARY

The Banquet Set-up Staff plays a vital role in creating exceptional guest experiences during a wide range of events, including weddings, corporate meetings, social gatherings, and banquet functions. This role is responsible for setting up event spaces and service stations according to the banquet event order, ensuring all required equipment and service ware are in place before service begins, and promptly breaking down and clearing items after events to support efficient cleanup and reset.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Review banquet event orders and prepare event spaces with the required tables, chairs, linens, staging, dance floors, podiums, and other equipment based on function specifications.
  • Arrange service ware, buffet tables, beverage stations, and support areas according to the event plan to promote smooth and efficient service.
  • Set up banquet rooms and meeting spaces accurately and on time, ensuring room appearance meets hotel standards and client expectations.
  • Coordinate with banquet servers, culinary staff, and supervisors to confirm readiness for service and address last-minute setup changes.
  • Transport, place, and remove chinaware, glassware, silverware, tables, chairs, and banquet equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Break down event spaces after functions, remove used service ware and equipment, separate linens, and return items to designated storage or wash areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of banquet rooms, service corridors, storage areas, and back-of-house spaces before, during, and after events.
  • Clean and dry floors, remove debris promptly, and address spills or hazards to help prevent slip, trip, and fall incidents.
  • Use approved cleaning products and follow sanitation and safety procedures when performing setup, breakdown, and cleaning tasks.
  • Attend required meetings and trainings and perform other banquet support duties as assigned.

OTHER DUTIES

  • Work collaboratively with other departments and team members to support successful event execution and an excellent guest experience.
  • Report maintenance deficiencies, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries promptly to management.
  • Follow all safety procedures and recognize and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Follow Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements and report defective, damaged, or missing PPE to management.
  • Maintain a clean, professional uniform and appearance in accordance with hotel standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior banquet, hospitality, food and beverage, event setup, or related experience preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced, guest service environment preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to read and follow banquet event orders, room diagrams, setup instructions, and supervisor direction.
  • Knowledge of banquet room setup styles, service flow, and event support procedures preferred.
  • Ability to work efficiently under time constraints and adapt to changing event needs.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to safely handle, move, and store banquet equipment, furniture, and service items.
  • Ability to provide courteous, professional service and interact effectively with guests, coworkers, and management.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on event schedules.
  • Ability to consistently report to work on time and maintain dependable attendance.

  • Prolonged standing and walking throughout event setup, service support, breakdown, and cleanup.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, reaching, grasping, and repetitive hand motions.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of tables, chairs, linens, dishes, and banquet equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to safely move banquet furniture and equipment
  • Work environment includes indoor banquet rooms, kitchens, storage areas, loading/service corridors, and exposure to wet floors, food and beverage spills, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Moderate to high noise levels may occur during event setup, service, breakdown, and equipment movement.
  • Frequent speaking and listening required to communicate with team members, supervisors, and guests.
  • May require use of carts, dollies, and step stools in accordance with safety procedures.
