Position Description
Position Summary
The Plant Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the asphalt plant.
Essential Functions:
The following list is intended to be exemplary of the functions and physical demands of the position however it is not exhaustive of all day-to-day activities. The incumbent will be required to perform any or all of the following in a given day or week:
- Adheres to all safety rules, wears proper PPE at all times, and works safely on all jobs
- Daily operation of designated asphalt plant;
- Serve as the primary operator responsible for overseeing and managing operations during the shift, ensuring efficient production of asphalt materials.
- Processing orders, customer service;
- Preventative maintenance on the plant;
- Ordering supplies, monitoring fuel;
- While performing the duties of this position the incumbent is regularly required to stand for up to 10-12 hours (rest breaks as required by law will be provided), use hands, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, walk, climb stairs, ladders, and catwalks, stoop, bend, twist, kneel and crouch.
- Report immediately to Plant Manager any damage to the equipment or safety hazards or accidents.
- Must be able to consistently lift and/or manipulate with push/pull force +/- 50 pounds.
- Flexibility with regard to schedule, working early and/or extended hours, weekends, and holidays when required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in asphalt plant operations.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in welding and cutting operations.
- Proficient computer skills and a customer-service-oriented mindset.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening.

The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Performs work independently within scope of established guidelines and practices. Consults with senior teammates and Plant Manager where clarification or exception to procedure may be required.
