| Required License/Registration/Certification | Licensure through the Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care and National Board of Respiratory Care Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential at time of hire. |
| Physical Requirements | The ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 25-100 pounds on a daily basis, kneel and bend, as well as stand, walk, and sit for long periods of time. The conditions of work may involve exposure to communicable diseases and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments. |
| Shift | Shift primarily to occur between the hours of 8am-5pm Monday thru Friday. Shifts may be altered to accommodate future needs of the position for patient care which may include hours and days outside of the typical shifts. |
| Job Summary | The Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Respiratory Therapist provides specialized respiratory care in home or outpatient settings. They evaluate patient needs and assess for fit of equipment (e.g., CPAP/BiPAP, oxygen,), troubleshooting and educating patients on safe usage. They will review prescribed treatment plans to ensure compliance with insurance and billing guidelines. This role ensures therapy compliance and bridges the gap between physicians and home care to help patients achieve optimal respiratory care. Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to lift or transport medical equipment is required. |
| Skills / Knowledge / Abilities | Understanding of DME billable services and equipment usage, strong understanding of durable medical equipment. Strong computer skills; excellent communication skills and patient care experience. |

| Preferred Education/Experience | Two years or more of DME respiratory therapy experience is preferred. Must be a registered respiratory therapist through the NBRC |
