Job Description

Engineering Manager, Clinical Intelligence

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for an Engineering Manager, Clinical Intelligence in the United States.

This role sits at the intersection of engineering leadership, hands-on software development, and healthcare innovation, focused on transforming how clinical and post-acute care data flows across the healthcare ecosystem. You will lead a small team of engineers while actively contributing to code and technical design, helping build scalable systems that improve patient access to critical medical equipment and supplies. The position combines people management with strong technical ownership, requiring a balance of coaching, architecture thinking, and day-to-day engineering execution. You will collaborate closely with product, design, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-impact features, including AI-driven capabilities that improve clinical workflows. This is a highly mission-driven environment where engineering quality directly affects patient outcomes at scale. The role is ideal for a leader who enjoys staying close to the code while developing high-performing engineering teams.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of up to 5 engineers, focusing on career development, technical growth, and delivery excellence.
  • Act as a hands-on engineering manager, contributing up to 50% of your time to coding, architecture, and system design.
  • Develop and deliver high-quality software in an agile environment using best practices such as TDD, pair programming, and iterative development.
  • Collaborate with product and design teams to define requirements, shape features, and deliver scalable clinical intelligence solutions.
  • Ensure strong engineering practices, including code quality, testing standards, and software design principles across the team.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and contribute to improving system reliability, performance, and availability.
  • Work cross-functionally to design and implement AI-enabled features that enhance clinical workflows and user experience.
  • Guide and improve engineering processes across teams to drive efficiency, consistency, and technical excellence.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering production-grade applications.
  • 2+ years of engineering management experience, leading and mentoring software engineers.
  • Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails or other modern backend programming languages.
  • Solid understanding of data structures, software design patterns, and test-driven development (TDD).
  • Experience working in agile environments with cross-functional product and design teams.
  • Hands-on experience contributing to system architecture and writing production-level code.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to coach and develop engineers.
  • Must be based in the United States and eligible to work without sponsorship.
  • Nice to have: experience with React, TypeScript, or healthcare interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7, Epic, Cerner).
  • Nice to have: exposure to workflow engines, rules-based systems, or healthcare data integrations.
Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary ($195,000 – $240,000 depending on experience and level)
  • Annual company-wide bonus opportunity (up to 15% based on performance)
  • Equity incentive plan participation
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage (low-to-no-cost options available)
  • Employer contributions to Health Savings Account (HSA)
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan
  • Remote-first work environment with NYC office access and coworking reimbursement
  • Flexible vacation policy plus summer Fridays (additional time off)
  • Home office setup and wellness stipend
  • Monthly internet reimbursement
  • Annual learning and development stipend
  • Structured 90-day performance calibration period to ensure role alignment.
