FMI is seeking an experienced Machine Operator to join our Manufacturing Team. This role supports the production of advanced fabric and fiber-based materials used in high-performance applications. The Machine Operator will be responsible for safely operating production equipment, monitoring product quality, maintaining accurate production records, and contributing to a safe, efficient, and team-oriented manufacturing environment.
Job Responsibilities:
•Read and interpret work instructions, procedures, specifications, and production requirements
• Operate and monitor manufacturing equipment used to process yarns, fibers, fabrics, and related materials
• Set up, start up, adjust, and shut down production equipment safely and efficiently
• Monitor equipment performance, material flow, and production processes to ensure quality standards are met
• Move, stage, and prepare materials throughout the production process
• Conduct quality inspections, including measurements, visual inspections, and defect identification
• Complete production reports, quality documentation, and maintain accurate operating records
• Perform basic equipment checks, routine adjustments, and report mechanical issues
• Operate textile and fabric processing equipment, including winding, spooling, and material handling systems
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all safety procedures and requirements
• Participate in team problem-solving activities and support continuous improvement initiatives
What We Need From You:
• High school diploma or GED required
• 3+ years of machine operation, manufacturing, textile, or related production experience preferred
• Experience operating and adjusting production equipment in a manufacturing environment
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and following established procedures
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot basic equipment and process issues
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality, accuracy, and consistency
• Ability to read and follow written instructions, specifications, and production requirements
• Basic math, measurement, and computer skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Shift Schedule:
12 Hour day and overnight positions available
