Job Description
Assistant General Manager
We are seeking an experienced hospitality leader to serve as Assistant General Manager at our DC club. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the AGM partners closely with the GM to deliver an exceptional member experience while overseeing the operational backbone of the club.
This is a broad, hands-on role suited to a well-rounded hospitality professional who is equally comfortable engaging with members on the floor, supporting the F&B team during service, working with vendors and facilities, and reviewing the month-end expense report. The AGM acts as the GM's right hand and as senior leadership on property in the GM's absence.
Key Responsibilities
Operations and Facilities
- Oversee day-to-day operational functions of the club, including opening and closing procedures, facilities, and physical plant
- Respond to operational and facility issues as they arise, including after-hours matters when required
- Ensure the club consistently meets standards for safety, cleanliness, and presentation
Food and Beverage Support
- Provide oversight and support to the F&B operation in coordination with F&B team
- Maintain a visible presence during service periods and key events
- Support menu planning, event execution, and service standards as needed
Vendor and Contract Management
- Manage relationships with the club's vendors and service providers
- Review contracts, monitor service quality, and negotiate terms
- Coordinate procurement across departments
Administration and Finance
- Oversee operational administration including payroll coordination, accounts payable, and expense management
- Track departmental budgets and assist the GM with financial reporting
- Maintain operational policies, procedures, and documentation
Member Relations and Leadership
- Engage regularly with members to build relationships and gather feedback
- Partner with department heads to ensure cohesive, high-quality service across the club
- Support recruitment, training, and development of staff
- Serve as senior leadership on property in the GM's absence
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or related field
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive management experience in hospitality, with private club, hotel, or resort experience strongly preferred
- Demonstrated experience across multiple operational areas (F&B, facilities, vendor management, or administration)
- Working knowledge of club or hospitality financial operations, including payroll and expense management
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and hospitality or property management systems
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
