SENIOR MANAGER, TRANSPORTATION ENGINEERING
Hybrid role, Lisle, IL
Salary Range: $95,000-$110,000 annually

This role supports a client within the Transportation Engineering industry.
Background:
The Senior Manager works closely with client, technical, project, and creative teams to develop, implement, and support comprehensive communications strategies and deliverables. These efforts may include content development and/or review for both internal and external audiences, as well as education and training programs designed to engage diverse stakeholders through both traditional and emerging channels.
The Senior Manager is a skilled written and verbal communicator who brings fresh ideas and perspectives to translating highly technical information into clear, concise and accessible messaging. They play a key role in developing high-quality deliverables while ensuring alignment with client goals and expectations.
An experienced project manager, this individual collaborates with internal staff, external project partners, as well as clients and client teams to monitor deliverables, manage timelines and monitor team performance to ensure successful outcomes. They are a strong collaborator and relationship builder, fostering trust and effective partnerships across project team members and client teams.
The Senior Manager works closely with clients to engage target audiences and communicate project goals and benefits. The ideal candidate has a demonstrated track record of delivering projects on time and within budget, along with the ability to manage multiple, concurrent project priorities in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
Project management experience with transportation engineering and technical writing or editing is preferred.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional client service and high-quality deliverables on time and on budget
  • Communicate regularly with internal staff, external project partners and clients via email, virtual meetings and face-to-face interactions to provide status updates and strategic guidance
  • Develop content, oversee design and edit reports about the client’s infrastructure targeted toward a diverse group of stakeholders, including engineers, legislators and the public
  • Partner with client’s engineering teams to develop and review technical content presentations in a digestible format
  • Format criteria and specification manuals and upload to client’s website annually
  • Schedule and facilitate technical training sessions that educate internal and external stakeholders on best practices, processes and key engineering innovations
  • Lead outreach for and execute large-scale events and technical workshops for engineers and industry partners
  • Manage event planning, advance preparation and day-of-event execution
  • Measure attendee satisfaction and event impact, and make recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Proactively manage project performance, including budget, timeline and client satisfaction, and address any issues to keep projects on track
  • Attend and manage in-person client events and functions

Job Qualifications:
  • 5-8 years professional experience in project management or communications for/within the transportation or engineering industries
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both on deliverables and with project partners
  • Ability to convey complex, technical topics in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to adjust communication style to appropriately meet the needs of a variety of audiences
  • Skilled at working with minimal supervision on high-profile projects
  • Experienced with budget management and tracking
  • Experienced in supporting project teams while balancing multiple initiatives concurrently
  • Experienced in working with multiple team members, both internal and external, at different levels of seniority
  • Strong familiarity with transportation industry and its best practices
  • Bachelor’s degree required, with a preferential focus in engineering, communications, urban planning or related field
  • Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to client offices and events
  • Must be able to work onsite in Lisle, IL a minimum of three days, per week
