Job Summary
The University of Kentucky College of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology, is seeking a Comprehensive Ophthalmologist to join our growing academic faculty. This is a unique opportunity for a clinician who is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care while shaping the next generation of ophthalmologists.
What sets this position apart is the opportunity to dedicate approximately 50% of your professional effort to teaching and mentoring ophthalmology residents in cataract clinics and the operating room. Position Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive ophthalmic care to adult patients.
  • Supervise and teach ophthalmology residents in cataract clinics and the operating room, with approximately 50% of the position dedicated to resident cataract education and surgical supervision.
  • Educate and mentor ophthalmology residents and medical students through clinical instruction and hands-on surgical teaching.
  • Participate in scholarly and academic activities aligned with your professional interests.
  • Collaborate with faculty and multidisciplinary colleagues to advance the Department’s missions of clinical care, education, and research.

The UK College of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology is a strong, multidisciplinary team of more than 180 people dedicated to advancing Kentucky health care together. Our department encompasses 37 faculty members, 122 staff members and 24 learners.
Each year, providers in the department see 140,000+ patient visits at 17 clinical sites. The department trains 24 residents and fellows across 8 accredited programs, while also contributing to the education of medical students and graduate trainees.
