Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director - Enterprise AI Transformation based in India.
This is a senior leadership opportunity to shape and accelerate enterprise-wide AI adoption across a global organization.
You will turn strategic productivity ambitions into a prioritized, governed, and measurable AI transformation roadmap.
The role spans business functions, technology, data, security, finance, and executive leadership, giving you broad organizational influence.
You will establish the operating model, governance standards, architecture principles, and value-tracking mechanisms needed to scale AI responsibly.
Rather than operating as a traditional PMO, you will be a hands-on transformation leader focused on moving AI initiatives from experimentation into sustainable execution.
You will guide teams in identifying high-value use cases, managing AI adoption and spend, and delivering measurable productivity and business outcomes.
This role offers the opportunity to shape how AI becomes an integrated and governed capability across the enterprise.
- Own and continuously evolve the enterprise internal AI transformation and leverage roadmap across business functions and business units.
- Prioritize AI use cases based on business value, feasibility, organizational readiness, data readiness, and risk.
- Translate executive priorities, strategic assessments, and diagnostic findings into actionable implementation waves with clear outcomes.
- Maintain visibility into AI initiatives across the organization, identifying opportunities to accelerate, pause, stop, or escalate for leadership decisions.
- Define and implement an enterprise AI governance model in partnership with IT, Data, Engineering, Information Security, Legal, Procurement, and functional leadership.
- Establish practical processes for AI use-case intake, prioritization, approval, risk assessment, and escalation without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
- Develop risk-tiered governance approaches that enable rapid adoption of low-risk applications while applying appropriate controls to sensitive or high-risk use cases.
- Coordinate the enterprise AI reference architecture across approved tools, data sources, enterprise systems, workflow layers, and governance controls.
- Partner with technology and data teams to establish standard patterns for connecting AI solutions to enterprise systems and datasets.
- Help determine when AI capabilities should be purchased, configured, integrated, or selectively developed internally.
- Reduce fragmented technology adoption and prevent unmanaged or unauthorized AI deployments across functions.
- Establish controls for AI tools and platforms, including access management, usage monitoring, license allocation, data permissions, and spend management.
- Track adoption, usage, consumption, costs, productivity improvements, quality, cycle time, and financial impact across the AI portfolio.
- Partner with Finance and IT to optimize AI-related spending and demonstrate measurable return on investment.
- Define consistent success metrics and baselines for AI initiatives, ensuring pilots have clear criteria for scaling, pivoting, or being discontinued.
- Prepare executive-level decision materials, transformation updates, and board-ready summaries when required.
- Lead Functional AI Enablement Leads and AI/Data Integration Engineers, setting standards for workflow design, agent requirements, documentation, testing, adoption, and value realization.
- Coach the team to operate as hands-on transformation and execution partners rather than traditional project coordinators.
- Collaborate with senior executives and functional leaders to drive alignment, challenge assumptions constructively, and maintain momentum across the transformation portfolio.
- 8–15+ years of experience in digital transformation, AI transformation, enterprise automation, product management, technology strategy, operations transformation, consulting, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience working across business and technology organizations to deliver complex transformation initiatives.
- Strong understanding of enterprise systems, data architecture, workflow automation, AI technologies, and emerging agentic AI capabilities.
- Experience translating strategic objectives into practical roadmaps, operating models, governance frameworks, and measurable business outcomes.
- Proven ability to engage directly with senior executives, including CFO, CHRO, COO, CRO, Engineering, IT, and functional leadership.
- Strong understanding of AI adoption, governance, risk management, access controls, data permissions, and enterprise technology ecosystems.
- Ability to evaluate AI use cases through a pragmatic value, feasibility, risk, and build-versus-buy lens.
- Strong commercial and analytical mindset, with experience defining metrics, tracking value realization, and managing technology-related investments.
- Excellent executive communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the confidence to challenge senior stakeholders constructively and influence without relying solely on hierarchy.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments where priorities evolve and new technologies emerge rapidly.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and collaboration skills, with the ability to build high-performing cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to move initiatives from experimentation and pilots into scalable, governed enterprise execution.
- Competitive compensation package based on experience, expertise, and relevant skills.
- Remote-friendly working arrangement, with occasional travel to offices in Mumbai or Pune as required.
- Opportunity to lead a high-impact, enterprise-wide AI transformation agenda.
- Exposure to senior executive leadership and cross-functional business and technology teams.
- Opportunity to shape AI governance, architecture, adoption, and value realization at scale.
- Collaborative environment where ideas and contributions are valued regardless of hierarchy or level.
- Strong focus on employee health, well-being, and work-life balance.
- Opportunity to join a growing organization entering an important phase of expansion and transformation.
- Supportive culture that encourages professional growth, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
- Inclusive workplace committed to diversity, equity, belonging, and equal opportunity.
