About the Role

A mid-size plaintiff’s personal injury law firm is seeking a skilled Settlement Distribution Coordinator to join our growing Finance team. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented individual with the skills and knowledge to handle the many distributions of the firm. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an organized and detail-oriented junior finance professional to contribute to the growth and success of our firm.

You Will:

  • Accurately process and record settlements with complex fee divisions, expenses and multiple liens, in a short turnaround period.
  • Work with Finance team management to ensure accurate reporting of firms IOLTA accounts in various jurisdictions.
  • Work closely with the firm’s primary financial institution and track the case lines of credit.
  • Review and approve invoices, create expense reports, process reimbursements, deposit and issue checks.
  • Accurately pay and record the different operating costs of the firm (i.e. rent, utilities, etc) in Quickbooks.
  • Calculate and track attorney’s fees, including referral fees.

You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in bookkeeping, preferably within a law firm or legal services environment.
  • Advanced Excel knowledge (pivot tables, VLOOKUP’s, advanced formulas, etc)
  • Basic (2+ years) QuickBooks knowledge

Nice to Have:

  • Experience using Smart Advocate.
  • Knowledge of personal injury law firm processes and related financial processes.
