Job Description

About SynMax, Inc.

SynMax is a geospatial intelligence company. We fuse multi-sensor satellite imagery with signals, vessel-tracking and proprietary machine learning models, and apply trained analysts to produce finished intelligence on activity in low-transparency environments across the maritime and energy domains.

Our product suite: Theia, Hyperion, Vulcan and Leviaton - is used by commercial energy traders, financial institutions, government agencies, and defense and intelligence organizations.

Founded in 2021, we are around 130 people across Houston, London and Washington, D.C.

About the role

SynMax is hiring a Recruiter on a six-month fixed-term basis to support a growing pipeline of technical hiring, based in our Washington, D.C. office (hybrid - we encourage staff to go into the office at least once per week).

You’ll work directly with our Corporate Operations and People Ops team and with hiring managers across the business to find and close people for roles in AI and machine learning, data science and platform engineering, many of which require a U.S. security clearance. You’ll own the full process from intake to offer, so we’re looking for someone who can start quickly and run searches independently.

This is a W-2 employee position, paid hourly, full-time, with an expected end date of May/2027. Extension is possible depending on business needs.

What you'll do

  • Run full-lifecycle recruitment for open roles across SynMax, with a focus on technical hires: AI and machine learning engineers, data scientists and platform engineers
  • Recruit for roles that require U.S. security clearances, including screening candidates’ eligibility and working with our security and compliance team on clearance requirements
  • Source and engage passive candidates through LinkedIn, referrals and your own networks, particularly in the Washington, D.C. defense and intelligence community
  • Partner with hiring managers to agree role requirements, interview plans and timelines, and keep them updated on pipeline progress
  • Support sourcing for both employee and contractor engagements, working with People Ops to confirm the right engagement type for each role
  • Manage candidates, scorecards and records in Rippling, following our structured interview and selection process
  • Give every candidate a prompt, professional and respectful experience from first contact to offer
  • Report weekly on pipeline health, time-to-fill and progress against hiring targets
  • Leave a clean handover at the end of the six-month term, with open searches, candidate notes and pipeline documented

What Good Looks Like

  • By the end of your first month, you will have:
  • Met your hiring managers, agreed the profile and interview plan for each open role, and opened active searches
  • Learned our selection process and Rippling setup well enough to run it without support

Over the term, you will:

  • Present hiring managers with a steady flow of well-screened candidates, including people who are not actively looking
  • Move candidates through the process quickly, with no one left waiting without an update
  • Understand clearance requirements clearly enough to screen for eligibility early and avoid wasted interviews
  • Keep Rippling complete and accurate: scorecards, notes and candidate status always current
  • Give hiring managers a short, honest weekly update on where each search stands

What we’re looking for

Essential:

  • Full-lifecycle recruiting experience, ideally in a fast-moving technology, defense, intelligence or government-contracting environment
  • Proven experience recruiting for roles that require U.S. security clearances, and a good understanding of clearance levels and eligibility
  • Strong sourcing skills, including direct outreach to passive candidates
  • Experience recruiting technical talent such as engineers, data scientists or similar
  • Comfortable using an applicant tracking system and keeping accurate records
  • Clear, direct communication, with hiring managers and with candidates
  • Based in or able to work from the Washington, D.C. area, and eligible to work in the U.S.

Nice to have:

  • Experience recruiting in the geospatial, maritime or energy sectors
  • Experience supporting both employee and contractor hiring
  • Experience with Rippling or a comparable ATS
  • Existing network in the D.C. cleared community

The pay range for this role is:
38 - 48 USD per hour(Washington, DC)
