Job Description

The Senior IT Infrastructure & Support Specialist is responsible for contributing to the design and development of security focused infrastructure, as well as directly managing the operational infrastructure of our TCI location. Integral to the role is managing network and internet connections, telecommunications infrastructure and all hardware/software function and reliability.

In this role, the specialist will use daily monitoring for this 24x7 critical operations to ensure reliability and stability of all solutions and services. The management of local vendors (cabling, infrastructure, desktop, and data center, WAN/LAN connectivity) back to our California locations will be a key part of this role.

This role also serves as the first point of contact for internal customers facing all technical issues. This role assists users who contact the service desk with incidents and service requests related to Information Technology (IT) support, systems, hardware, software, and a variety of other requests.

In addition, the role is expected to directly fulfill service requests, including but not limited to provisioning access, installing software and services, and conduit to broader IT operations. The Sr IT Infrastructure & Support Specialist utilizes the existing knowledge base documentation wherever possible and conducts additional research, as needed.

SPECIFIC SKILLS NEEDED

• Experience with providing desktop support in a healthcare environment for all system users.
• Ability to express urgency and respond graciously in the face of technical problems.
• Working knowledge of PC hardware, including laptops, desktops and printers.
• Proficient in networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP and MPLS.
• Proficient maintaining/rounding on network hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and proxy servers.
• Strong understanding of scalable Data Center network design principles for high availability and performance.
• Proficient in implementing and maintaining network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and access control policies.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and their core services (compute, storage, networking, databases).
• Experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware vSphere, Citrix).
• Experience with monitoring tools and methodologies for data center and cloud environments.
• Advanced skills in analyzing performance metrics and optimizing infrastructure for efficiency.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to conduct root cause analysis and implement effective solutions.
• Hands-on experience with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools (e.g., SolarWinds).
• Hands-on experience supporting telecommunications (e.g. Cisco)
• Proficient in creating and maintaining detailed network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.
• Ability to prepare detailed reports and presentations for management on network performance, project status, and improvement recommendations.
• Participate in on-call rotation and promptly respond to critical incidents including nights and during weekends.
• Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with emerging network technologies and industry trends.
• Ability to work independently and manage projects with little supervision.
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
• Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree or 10 years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
• 7 to 10 years of experience as a Desktop Specialist, Network Engineer or Systems Engineer.

Preferred:
• Certifications preferred (Cisco, VMware, Microsoft, Linux, IBM)
