The National Account Director plays a pivotal role in shaping institutional access and strategic partnerships across the largest Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs) and academic health systems in the country. This position sits at the intersection of commercial strategy, market access, and healthcare operations, driving adoption of innovative therapies within complex hospital ecosystems. You will lead high-impact engagements with senior clinical and administrative stakeholders, influencing formulary decisions and aligning access pathways. The role requires deep expertise in institutional contracting, reimbursement frameworks, and buy-and-bill environments. You will also collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure seamless execution and long-term account success across national health systems.

Accountabilities:

The role is responsible for leading strategic account development and execution across major IDNs, ensuring optimal access, utilization, and reimbursement pathways for complex therapeutic portfolios. It requires a blend of commercial leadership, market intelligence, and cross-functional coordination to unlock institutional growth opportunities.

  • Design and execute tailored strategic account plans that drive formulary inclusion, access expansion, and sustained product utilization across national health systems.
  • Conduct deep market and institutional analysis to understand payer dynamics, health system economics, and evolving clinical protocols.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders including pharmacy directors, medical directors, P&T committees, and health system executives.
  • Lead complex contract negotiations and lifecycle management across buy-and-bill, ASP/WAC, and 340B reimbursement environments.
  • Drive quarterly business reviews, performance tracking, and resolution of access or operational barriers within assigned accounts.
  • Partner with internal Market Access, Medical Affairs, and Commercial teams to align strategies and ensure seamless execution across the field.
  • Support launch readiness and future pipeline integration across large integrated health systems and institutional networks.
Requirements:

This role requires extensive experience in pharmaceutical or biotech account management with a strong focus on institutional access, reimbursement strategy, and large health system engagement. The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution in highly regulated, fast-moving environments.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, PharmD, MHA, or similar) strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare institutional account management or market access roles.
  • Proven expertise working with IDNs, academic medical centers, and large integrated health systems.
  • Deep knowledge of buy-and-bill models, reimbursement structures (ASP, WAC, 340B), and payer dynamics.
  • Strong ability to influence senior stakeholders and navigate complex organizational decision-making structures.
  • Demonstrated success launching or managing access for complex biologics or specialty therapies.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with digital tools including Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM or analytics platforms.
  • Willingness to travel up to 60% to support customer engagement and field execution.
Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary ($184,000 – $245,000 USD) plus performance-based annual bonus and long-term incentive eligibility
  • Equity participation opportunities aligned with long-term company growth
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and eligible dependents
  • Retirement savings plan with employer match
  • Paid parental leave and inclusive family-building support programs
  • Flexible paid time off and company holidays
  • Hybrid/remote flexibility depending on role requirements
  • Professional development opportunities and cross-functional career growth exposure
